In addition, this position is also eligible for relocation assistance (amounts based on location distance) and our employee referral program ($3,000 referral bonus to employees who refer other Respiratory Therapists) WEEKENDS REQUIRED PER STAFFING NEEDS Summary: Under the direction of department management and according to policies and procedures as defined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manuals, the Respiratory Therapist, Senior demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge in respiratory care and assigned patient care areas. The Respiratory Therapist II administers competent care of patients through airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiratory care procedures and treatments designed to assess, prevent, stabilize or remedy patients respiratory dysfunction. Responsibilities: 1. Administers standard Respiratory Care including but not limited to, aerosol medication delivery, basic bedside pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, oxygen therapy, and arterial punctures. Provides for all aspects of airway management including aspiration of established airways, tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations. May perform Pulmonary Function Testing as needed., 2. May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends and holidays., 3. May Perform all aspects of ventilator care to include, but not limited to setting up the ventilator and verifying function using specialized ventilator modes to manage the patients disease process. Provide for an appropriate monitoring of these patients and provide appropriate weaning techniques., 4. Maintains and improves job knowledge and skills. Functions independently with minimal supervision. Serves as resource to other staff reflective of experience level. Other Information Education Requirements: ● Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Licensure/Certification Requirements: ● Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board and registry eligible by the National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT or RRT). Must be registered (CRT or RRT) within 6 months of hire. BLS on hire. Professional Experience Requirements: ● No prior experience required. This role involves providing sleep services 34 nights per week (8:00 PM6:00 AM) to facilitate diagnostic testing and patient care. Equipment Preparation: Prepare and calibrate equipment, apply electrodes, sensors, and airway pressure masks per established protocols. Monitoring and Recording: Record patient activities, monitor study quality, and document clinical events (e.g., respiratory and cardiac episodes). Data Analysis: Score clinical events and tabulate data for physician review. Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and laboratory protocols. Job Requirements Education: High school diploma or higher required; completion of an accredited Polysomnography program preferred. Certification/Licenses: o Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred. o Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. Experience: Prior experience as an RPSGT in a sleep lab setting. Physical Demands: o Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear; use hands to operate equipment. o Close, distance, and peripheral vision with ability to adjust focus. o Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally. Job Description Responsibilities 1. Demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate continuum of care, 2. Maintains the dignity/confidentiality of the patient, serves as a patient advocate, 3. Verifies physician order before performing therapy; reviews pertinent clinical data, 4. Select, assemble, check for proper function and operation, use and troubleshoot equipment for use in the delivery of respiratory care, 5. Administers prescribed therapy (oxygen therapy, medication administration, ventilator management) in accordance with department policy and procedure, 6. Documents in the medical record: patient assessment, patient education, therapy provided, ventilator/Bipap/SI-PAP flow sheet and CarVue, 7. Initiates, monitors , evaluates and manages care for mechanically ventilated patients according to department protocols, 8. Maintains a patent airway and provides ventilation during CPR, 9. Performs arterial puncture to obtain samples for blood gas analysis, 10. Performs diagnostic related testing such as sputum induction, forced vital capacity, peak flow measurements and pulse oximetry, 11. Performs maintenance and QC functions as required on ABG analyzers, 12. Processes respiratory equipment for cleaning and disinfection/ sterilization, 13.
