Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week travel assignment in a high-acuity Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) environment in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role supports critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients across multiple high-acuity units requiring advanced respiratory care and equipment management. POSITION OVERVIEW This assignment is ideal for experienced RRTs with strong PICU and NICU backgrounds who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity pediatric environment with complex respiratory cases. ASSIGNMENT DETAILS • 13-week contract, • 3x12 Night shifts, • 18:45–07:15, • 36 hours per week, • Every third weekend required, • Call may be required based on unit workload, • Floating required across PICU, NICU, Pediatric ED, and Pediatric floor, • Block scheduling not permitted COMPENSATION • Gross: $2,161 per week, • W2: $19.00 per hour, • Tax-Free Stipend: $1,477 per week CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support equipment, • Perform airway management and suctioning, • Administer respiratory medications and therapies, • Interpret ABGs and adjust treatment plans accordingly, • Provide care across neonatal and pediatric critical care environments, • Collaborate with multidisciplinary pediatric care teams, • Document care in Epic EMR UNIT OVERVIEW • 70+ bed NICU, • 10 bed PICU, • 32 bed Pediatric floor, • 14 bed Pediatric ED, • 50–60 percent of cases involve NICU and PICU, • Epic charting system, • Pyxis medication system, • 36 hours of unit orientation SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT • Servo-I and Servo-N ventilators, • HOFV-3100 A and B, • Hamilton T1, • Airvo heated HFNC, • BCPAP systems with multiple interfaces, • Nitric oxide systems, • Metaneb and Smart Vest, • Heliox and bronchoscopy equipment Requirements: • Active North Carolina Respiratory Therapist license or Compact license required (must be in hand by start date; pending acceptable for submission), • Active RRT credentials required, • BLS, NRP, and PALS required, • Minimum 5 years of experience required, • Strong PICU and NICU experience required, • Experienced traveler preferred; strong first-time travelers considered, • Experience in Emergency Department, NICU, Pediatric Critical Care, and Pediatrics required, • Proficiency in airway management, ventilators, neonatal and pediatric equipment, • Medication administration experience required (Albuterol, Atrovent, Flovent, Nitric Oxide, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Terbutaline, Tobramycin, Xopenex), • ABG interpretation required, • Epic EMR experience required, • Floating required across pediatric units, • Call may be required, • Must adhere to strict scheduling and RTO policies Important Notes: • RTO after booking is not allowed, • Maximum of 7 days auto-approved if not on a holiday, • No RTO during first week due to orientation, • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays if applicable, • Fatigue policy enforced (no more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week), • Flu vaccine required (medical or religious exemptions only), • Local radius rule applies under 50 miles Join our VIP list to get first access to our best openings: https://stforms.co/heartlinestaffing/travelnurse Not ready to apply?
