Position Summary: Teachers lead students through intelligence, charisma, humor, moral integrity and example—in short, through love and friendship. Ultimately, our teachers strive to cultivate the minds and hearts of students in the wonder-filled pursuit of truth, beauty and goodness. • Reads, knows, and supports the philosophy, policies, procedures and other pertinent data of the school as published in the Realon Christian Academy Handbook., • Teaches the assigned classes using the assigned books and materials and may works with a mentor teacher, Lead Teacher, or Master Teacher and/or Assistant Teacher where assigned., • Provides reasonable assistance to those students in need of individual help and assists students to make-up work after approved absences., • Communicates professionally with parents on a regular basis., • Initiates parent-teacher conferences and responds to parental inquiries by the end of the next school day., • Supports and enforces the school dress and behavior codes and makes reasonable efforts to promote the orderly behavior of all students in the school, on the grounds, and at off-campus school activities., • Keeps accurate records and makes reports as required by the Head of School., • Attends Faculty Meetings, Parent-Faculty meetings (semester conferences and special appointments), Open Houses, special school events (such as concerts, plays and special presentations) and end-of-semester evaluation meetings. Only the Head of School can excuse a faculty member from these responsibilities., • Serves in some extra-curricular assignments as requested by the Head of School., • Assists, when necessary, in substituting for absent teachers., • Accepts and faithfully executes monitoring and duty assignments., • Assists in the upkeep of the buildings and grounds as requested by the Head of School., • Keeps the workplace and classrooms neat and orderly. Exercises care in the use of school equipment., • Follows school policies and procedures, including the Crisis Management Plan, for ensuring the safety and security of students on campus., • Participates in regular annual performance evaluations with the Head of School and accepts advice and recommendations for improvement of instruction., • Contributes to curriculum development with the Head of School and other faculty members., • Is an active member of the community of learners and continues to pursue his or her own professional growth and development by taking graduate courses and/or attending seminars and workshops related to the profession., • Pursues excellence in teaching and continues to develop his or her own knowledge of the great ideas and works of Western Civilization., • Notifies the parent and/or the Head of School regarding students who are having significant academic or disciplinary problems., • Is actively involved in promoting to the greater community the mission and goals of the Academy., • Maintain order of classroom and organization of daily lesson plans., • Support and adhere to the Statement of Faith, • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths Education/Certification: Must meet highly qualified teaching requirements per the Department of Education in the respective state. Most commonly, highly qualified teachers possess a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 24 credit hours in the field that they are providing instruction. Experience: Prior teaching experience in K-12 setting preferred. Special Skills: • Superior written and verbal communication skills; oriented towards detail, thoroughness, and accuracy., • Prior experience in K-12 school setting., • Reliable and punctual., • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office programs., • Detailed oriented with strong organization and time management skills., • Demonstrated professionalism and responsible enough to take ownership of projects. Additional Requirements: A pre-employment background check and fingerprinting will be required. Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 20 pounds approximately. Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
