We are looking for an experienced paralegal to become a valuable member of our team at our Charlotte office. McIntyre Elder Law provides a great working environment in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. Position: Probate Paralegal This position will work with multiple attorneys and staff to handle all aspects of probate, guardianship, and trust administration from initiation to completion. The following attributes are essential for this role, given its involvement in handling complex legal matters: • Prepare estate, guardianship, and trust accountings, • E-file and the paper filing of documents with the North Carolina Clerk of Court, • Familiarity with financial statements, balance sheets, income statements and tax filings, • Work directly and communicate well with clients and clients’ advisors, • Have working knowledge of North Carolina local and state court rules, • Track billable and non-billable hours, • Work independently as well as collaborate with attorneys and the probate team, • Communicate well with Clients, • Organize and maintain correspondence, court papers, case records, as well as digital and physical case files • Utilize document managementsystemsto store and retrieve legal documents, • Maintain confidentiality of client information, • Draft, proofread and revise legal documents, • Perform clerical taskssuch as copying,scanning, mailing and faxing documents, • Attend firm seminars (as required), • Attend virtual meetings with the probate team Candidate Characteristics: Candidates will have prior paralegal experience in one or all fields of: probate, guardianship, and trust administration. An ideal candidate will be: a team player, positive, focused, dedicated, have excellent oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and be highly detail oriented. Successful paralegals are self-reliant and capable of carrying out tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision. Skills Needed: Prior paralegal experience. Advanced computer skills utilizing a variety of software programs including, but not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe, Google office, and Clio. Strong candidates will offer flexibility to extend their working hours occasionally when required based upon need.
