A strong storeroom supervisor is more than someone who checks deliveries and counts inventory - they're the bridge between operations, culinary, purchasing, and vendors, ensuring that the flow of goods is accurate, timely, safe, and cost-effective. Essential Functions and Responsibilities • Train, guide, and motivate clerks to follow best practices, maintain accuracy and deliver consistent results, • Set clear expectations, follow up on tasks, and hold the team accountable for performance and standards, • Act as a daily point of contact between storeroom, chefs, and other departments, • Build a collaborative, positive environment for the team to work in, • Ensure all deliveries match purchase orders by verifying quantities, quality, dates, and temperatures, • Oversee correct rotation (FIFO), labeling, organization, and compliance with food safety guidelines, • Keep precise records, monitor stock levels, reduce waste, and help prepare for monthly or bi-annual counts, • Organize the day so that orders, storage and restocking happen on time and without hiccups, preventing delays to product delivery, • Monitor inventory variances, understand food and beverage cost implications, and assist in controlling waste and over ordering, • Monitor storeroom clerk workload to prevent/reduce overtime, • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, and delivery personnel, • Support chefs with sourcing requests, product changes, and feedback, • Ensure HACCP, temperature logs, and sanitation standards are strictly followed, • Keep documentation and storage areas inspection ready at all times, • 2-3 years of storeroom, warehouse, inventory, or receiving experience - preferably in a hospitality, food service, or culinary environment, • Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a small team, delegate tasks effectively and maintain accountability, • Strong understanding of inventory control, product rotation (FIFO), receiving standards, food safety and basic cost control practices, • Comfortable using inventory or purchasing systems as well as Microsoft Excel/Office, • Excellent attention to detail with strong time management and multitasking skills, • Clear, professional communication skills for working with chefs, purchasing, vendors, and team members, • Ability to stay calm under pressure, resolve delivery issues, and adapt quickly to unexpected changes, • Able to life and move boxes or materials up to 50lbs and spend extended periods standing, walking, or organizing stock areas, • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
