American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a 31-bed acute care Telemetry unit with both private and semi-private rooms, • Night shift position with 12-hour shifts from 7pm to 7:30am, • Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule, • Patient ratio is 1 RN to 4 patients, • Uses Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry equipment, • Care for high acuity patients, including post pacemaker, hemodialysis, new onset afib, RVR, sepsis, strokes, TBI, and stepdown from ICU, • May float to Med Surg and remote telemetry, ICU for telemetry holds, or ER holds within the hospital system as needed, • Required to report within 30 minutes if placed on standby or call, • Block scheduling may be allowed depending on unit needs, • Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor, • Travelers are the first to float within the system as needed, • Team includes nurse aides, charge nurse shift manager, and resource nurse support, • Travelers are part of the permanent staff holiday rotation and must work one major and one minor holiday, • Navy blue scrubs are required, including jackets and undershirts which may be navy, white, or black, • Ventilator support includes CPAP and BiPAP managed by RT, • On-site 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available, • Not open to candidates employed by the associated health system within the past year, • Includes some patients from correctional facilities and nursing homes\n \n Requirements\n, • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration, • Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry nursing experience, • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, • Must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms, • Driver’s license copy required for consideration, • Two references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years, with employment dates and rehire eligibility\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
