Position Summary The Director of Development is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet the short- and long-term needs of the organization. This strategy includes special events, annual appeals, individual giving, and corporate and foundation relations. The Director provides strategic oversight and direction for all development activities and oversees marketing and communications, including print, digital, and social media, brand implementation and compliance, and community engagement. Reports To: CEO Positions Supervised: Development Coordinator, Senior Development Coordinator Qualifications Required: * Bachelor’s degree * 10 Years Relevant Experience Job Requirements, Skills, and Knowledge * Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies, principles, and resources * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks * Proficiency in constituent relationship management (CRM) and eRevenue systems; experience with Donor View, Donor Drive, and Greater Giving preferred * Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing * Basic understanding of copywriting, graphic design, and layout * Working knowledge of digital marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Mailchimp) Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fundraising and Development * Organize, direct, and execute fundraising initiatives including two signature events (bike event and gala) and the annual appeal * Leverage the donor database to identify fundraising opportunities and inform strategic decision-making * Identify and secure new funding sources * Recruit and direct volunteers and event committees * Identify corporate and foundation sponsors * Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors * Develop event budgets and manage event expenditures * Maintain contracts related to events * Ensure donors receive required tax acknowledgements and implement stewardship plans * Manage grant strategy and full grant lifecycle, including prospecting, letters of inquiry, proposals, and reporting Board and Parent Relations * Collaborate with the Board of Directors, staff, and parents on strategic fundraising initiatives * Prepare fundraising reports for quarterly Development Committee and Board meetings Community and Public Relations * Engage the corporate community in initiatives that mutually benefit both the corporation and Alpine Marketing and Communications * Prepare marketing materials for Alpine programs * Manage social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram * Update website content including events, news, and announcements * Develop and maintain brand voice and brand integrity across all programs and initiatives * Ensure conference sponsorships are strategic and aligned with organizational values * Manage all event marketing efforts across print, digital, and social platforms Finance and Accounting Collaboration * Collaborate with Finance to establish revenue and expense budgets * Ensure accuracy of financial reporting * Prepare for annual audit and IRS Form 990 submission * Provide revenue and expense forecasts as requested Supervisory Responsibilities * Recruit, manage, mentor, and train development and marketing staff * Assign, plan, and oversee departmental work General Responsibilities * Evaluate and improve development and communications systems and processes * Refine recognition programs, fundraising policies, and guidelines * Plan for long-term departmental growth and needs * Serve as internal contact for strategic partners including consultants and agencies Additional Information This position is onsite and requires regular attendance, punctuality, and engagement with donors and prospective supporters in the community. Clearances Compliance with Federal and State Personnel Code requirements, including but not limited to Mantoux TB test, Criminal History Review, and Citizenship status. Working Environment and Physical Demands Routine physical activity associated with a normal office environment, including lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, and manual dexterity to use office equipment and operate a computer keyboard. Some physical activity and endurance related to setting up and managing events.
