SUMMARY Under direction of the Vice President of Information Technology, the System Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of ADAPT’s infrastructure and business applications. This role supports both network and application environments, including servers, databases, cloud platforms, and enterprise software solutions. The System Engineer will manage day-to-day operations, design and implement improvements, and collaborate across departments to deliver technology solutions that align with ADAPT’s mission. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the System Engineer will include, but are not limited to, the following: Infrastructure & Systems Management • Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications., • Manage Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, group policy, Microsoft 365, and Azure Active Directory., • Monitor and optimize network performance (LAN, WAN, wireless, firewalls, and cloud services)., • Ensure consistent connectivity of servers, workstations, telephony, and video systems., • Oversee system backups, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity planning., • Analyze user requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications., • Design, develop, test, and deploy applications to meet organizational and departmental needs., • Integrate new applications with existing systems, ensuring compatibility, security, and scalability., • Monitor application performance, implement system patches, and troubleshoot technical issues., • Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and training materials., • Collaborate with IT teams and business units to deliver effective, mission-driven technology solutions., • Provide training and support to end-users to promote adoption and effective use of applications., • Deploy and manage security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and antivirus., • Evaluate and recommend technologies to enhance security and system performance., • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, accessibility standards, and organizational security requirements., • Conduct periodic audits of systems, applications, and data integrity., • All other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field., • 3–5 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, application development, or related technical role., • Strong experience with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, AD, Exchange, Microsoft 365, Azure)., • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript)., • Experience with database systems (SQL, MySQL, Oracle)., • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, firewalls, and virtualization (VMware)., • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills., • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines., • Experience with nonprofit platforms (e.g., Blackbaud FE NXT, Medisked, Paylocity)., • Familiarity with EMR/EHR platforms and HRIS systems., • Experience with application integration tools, APIs, and middleware., • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.
