The Role Stratus recently partnered with PVEDI and is seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer to join the team. This person will provide expert level technical design/investigation services and manage emergency structural response situations including building collapses, retaining wall failures, facade collapses, and other urgent structural issues. This role requires expertise in structural design and analysis for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry systems across buildings ranging from single-story to 10+-story structures. The ideal candidate is technically strong, responsive under pressure, and capable of delivering practical engineering solutions for both emergency and long-term structural needs. Responsibilities • Perform structural design and analysis (steel, concrete, timber, masonry, etc.) for building structures, • Prepare calculation packages, technical specifications, and design documentation, • Produce construction drawings, details, specifications, and design deliverables, • Review and coordinate structural submittals, respond to RFIs, issue addenda, and review shop drawings, • Conduct site visits for periodic observation, construction administration, and verification of field conditions, • Perform structural assessments, retrofit/rehabilitation/repair designs, and forensic investigations, • Develop technical reports with conclusions that clients can easily understand, • Conduct structural peer review or QA/QC checks (self-check, or for junior staff), • Collaborate with architects, MEP, geotechnical, civil, and other disciplines to integrate structural design requirements, • Assistor lead project scope definition, scheduling, resource planning, and budgeting, • Act as client technical liaison, attend client meetings, present design decisions, • Coordinate internal engineering resources, delegate tasks, and mentor less experienced engineers, • Participate in proposals, estimates, technical write-ups, and business development, • Track and report progress,anticipaterisks, and develop mitigation strategies Required • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York (required), • Bachelor's degree in Civilor Structural Engineering (Master'sdegree strongly preferred), • 5-10+ years of proven experience in structural engineering design, calculations, drawings, and analysis in a consulting/design office environment, • Experience using RISA, RAM, or similar design/analysis software, • Experience with Revit or similar modeling software, • Experience with NYC specific projects and understanding of local requirements, • Certifications in QEWI, QPSIandQRWI are highly desirable, • Advancedproficiencywith structural analysis and design software, • Strong technical writing skills for reports, memos, and calculations, • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with cross-disciplinary collaboration skills, • A team-oriented environment that values transparency, creativity, and shared success, • Meaningful career paths, leadership opportunities, and space to specialize, • Learning&Development – Education and Professional Licensing, • We believe flexible, hybrid work supports the balance and well-being our team deserves, • Excellent Health Care Programs – Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, • Company-paid Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability, • Voluntary Life Insurance options for employees, spouses, and dependents, • 401k Retirement Plan with employer match Equal Opportunity Statement Stratus is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, sex or gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, pregnancy-related conditions, and lactation), gender identity or expression (including transgender status), sexual orientation, marital status, military service and veteran status, physical or mental disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws and ordinances.
