Job Description Concrete Restoration Working Foreman – Parking Garages Pay: $45.00–$50.00 per hour, depending on experience Job Type: Full-time Work Location: Field-based; multiple project sites throughout New York and New Jersey Travel: Regular travel between active jobsites required Job Description: ACG is seeking an experienced Concrete Restoration Working Foreman to lead crews and support field operations across multiple active concrete restoration projects throughout New York and New Jersey. This is a hands-on field leadership position. The Working Foreman must be capable of planning and supervising the work, reading drawings and repair details, coordinating manpower and materials, maintaining quality and production, training employees, solving field problems, and physically performing concrete restoration work when needed. This is not a position for someone who only supervises from a distance. The successful candidate must understand concrete restoration well enough to look at work being performed in the field, determine whether it is being done correctly, correct poor workmanship, explain the proper repair method, demonstrate the work when necessary, and keep the crew productive. Parking garage restoration experience is strongly preferred. Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Key Responsibilities The Concrete Restoration Working Foreman will be responsible for: • Leading and supervising concrete restoration crews, • Running daily field operations and assigning work to crew members, • Traveling between multiple NY and NJ project sites based on company priorities, • Planning manpower, materials, equipment, tools, access, and daily production, • Coordinating manpower and resources between jobsites as needed, • Reviewing construction drawings, repair plans, details, specifications, and engineer requirements, • Understanding repair locations and explaining the required work to crews, • Coordinating daily priorities with Project Managers and company management, • Making sure crews have the materials, equipment, tools, and information necessary to perform the work, • Coordinating material orders, deliveries, equipment, and field supplies, • Walking work areas regularly to review progress, workmanship, production, organization, and safety, • Identifying field problems before they affect schedule or productivity, • Solving field conditions involving access, sequencing, forming, concrete placement, repair materials, coatings, waterproofing, and other restoration work, • Communicating field conditions, changes, delays, manpower needs, and material requirements to Project Managers, • Tracking completed work, quantities, manpower, and overall job progress, • Maintaining field documentation using Fieldwire and Procore, • Communicating with engineers, inspectors, general contractors, property representatives, subcontractors, and other trades, • Maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, organization, and safety Hands-On Leadership This is a working foreman position. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work alongside the crew when required. Responsibilities include: • Demonstrating proper repair and installation methods, • Performing concrete restoration work when necessary, • Assisting crews with difficult or unfamiliar repairs, • Stepping into production when necessary to keep work moving, • Teaching employees proper work methods, • Correcting improper workmanship, • Explaining why work is being performed a certain way, • Training younger and less-experienced employees, • Developing experienced workers into stronger foremen and field leaders, • Holding crews accountable for workmanship, production, organization, and safety The Working Foreman should never be afraid to pick up tools and perform the work when the situation requires it. Required Concrete Restoration Experience Candidates must have strong hands-on experience performing and supervising concrete restoration work, including: • Concrete chipping and demolition, • Partial-depth concrete repairs, • Full-depth concrete repairs, • Overhead concrete repairs, • Vertical concrete repairs, • Structural concrete repairs, • Reinforcing steel exposure and preparation, • Rebar replacement and installation, • Rebar cleaning and corrosion treatment, • Formwork, • Shoring and repair preparation, • Concrete placement, • Concrete finishing, • Repair mortar installation, • Crack repair, • Joint repair, • Caulking and joint sealants, • Waterproofing, • Traffic coating systems, • Traffic-bearing membranes, • Waterproofing membranes, • Surface preparation, • Grinding, • Coating removal, • Repair material installation Candidates should understand how different repair conditions affect demolition limits, reinforcing steel, forming, material selection, placement, finishing, curing, and final workmanship. Plan Reading & Field Coordination The Working Foreman must be capable of reviewing and understanding: • Construction drawings, • Repair drawings, • Structural plans, • Engineer repair details, • Repair callouts, • Sections and details, • Specifications, • Material requirements, • Work areas and repair locations The Working Foreman must be able to take information from the plans and translate it into clear instructions for the crew in the field. Candidates must also be able to recognize when existing field conditions do not match the drawings and communicate those conditions to the Project Manager, engineer, or other responsible party. Crew Leadership The successful candidate must be able to: • Run crews independently, • Set daily production goals, • Assign workers based on skill level, • Keep crews productive throughout the day, • Identify employees who need additional training, • Develop strong workers into future foremen, • Correct poor workmanship immediately, • Maintain discipline and organization, • Communicate expectations clearly in both English and Spanish, • Coordinate multiple work areas when necessary, • Support other foremen across different projects ACG is looking for someone who can earn the respect of field employees through experience, knowledge, leadership, and the ability to perform the work themselves. Manpower, Materials & Equipment The Working Foreman must be capable of planning ahead. Responsibilities include: • Determining manpower needs, • Planning crew assignments, • Determining required materials, • Coordinating repair materials and concrete, • Planning tools and equipment, • Coordinating lifts, generators, compressors, grinders, saws, mixers, and other field equipment, • Identifying shortages before they stop production, • Coordinating deliveries, • Planning work around access restrictions and other trades, • Helping Project Managers sequence work efficiently The expectation is that the Working Foreman understands what the crew will need before the crew needs it. Quality Control The Working Foreman must be able to recognize acceptable and unacceptable workmanship. This includes inspecting: • Concrete demolition limits, • Repair perimeter preparation, • Surface preparation, • Reinforcing steel preparation, • Rebar installation, • Formwork, • Concrete placement, • Repair material installation, • Finishing, • Joint preparation, • Sealant installation, • Waterproofing, • Traffic coating systems, • Membrane installation, • Final completed repairs The Working Foreman must be able to identify problems, stop improper work when necessary, explain the correct method, and make sure the issue is corrected. Technology & Documentation Candidates should be comfortable using mobile technology for field documentation. The Working Foreman will use: • Fieldwire, • Procore, • Smartphones and tablets, • Photos and field documentation, • Daily reporting software, • Quantity tracking, • Progress reporting Previous Fieldwire or Procore experience is preferred but may be trained for an otherwise highly qualified restoration foreman. Qualifications • Minimum 5 years of concrete construction or concrete restoration experience, • Minimum 3 years of experience leading construction crews, • Strong hands-on concrete restoration experience required, • Parking garage restoration experience strongly preferred, • Experience running concrete repair crews, • Experience supervising multiple crews or active work areas, • Strong understanding of partial-depth, full-depth, and overhead concrete repairs, • Strong understanding of reinforcing steel and formwork, • Experience with waterproofing and traffic coating systems, • Ability to read drawings, repair details, and specifications, • Ability to plan manpower, materials, tools, and equipment, • Strong leadership and problem-solving ability, • Ability to train and develop field employees, • Ability to identify and correct poor workmanship, • Ability to communicate effectively with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, general contractors, and clients, • Fluent English and Spanish required, • Valid driver's license required, • Ability and willingness to travel between project sites throughout New York and New Jersey, • Knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements, • OSHA 30 preferred What ACG Is Looking For ACG is looking for an experienced field leader who understands concrete restoration from the ground up. The right candidate should be able to arrive at a project, review the plans and repair details, understand what needs to be done, organize the crew, determine what materials and equipment are needed, communicate the plan clearly, supervise the work, identify problems, maintain quality, and keep production moving. You must be capable of communicating with management and engineers while also being comfortable working directly with laborers and tradesmen in the field. Most importantly, you must have enough hands-on experience to teach the work, inspect the work, correct the work, and perform the work yourself when needed. This position is about: Leading the crew. Planning the work. Reading the plans. Teaching the work. Checking the work. Solving field problems. And helping get the work done.
