Job Description CLASSTIME Academic Support Teacher About the Role: Novella Education Group Inc. is looking for a passionate and dedicated CLASSTIME Academic Support Teacher to support student-athletes with their academic responsibilities. CLASSTIME provides convenient, after-school academic support for students in grades 5 through high school. Teachers staff a designated CLASSTIME room at the sports facility on school nights during the 4:00–8:00 PM window, helping students complete homework, stay on top of their grades, and develop stronger academic habits before they get on the court and head home. The program is designed to provide accessible, structured academic support rather than traditional private tutoring. Students may walk in for homework help, and siblings are welcome. The position is primarily in person in Syosset, with the potential for teachers to support CLASSTIME ONLINE as well. Teachers may also work on a rotational basis across CLASSTIME locations, depending on program needs and their ability to commute between locations. Reviews and completes all other required paperwork and documentation to ensure compliance and/or billing completely, accurately and within appropriate timeframes (e.g., notifications, logging, incident reports, update files, maintenance requests, phone calls, and tracking of incidents). Uses foundational teaching skills (Explain, Model, Observe and Evaluate [EMOE], task analysis, essential skills, supports and modifications, etc.) and progressive teaching. This free afterschool program serves students in grades 4–5 at Mamaroneck Avenue School (MAS), a Title I school where more than half of students are economically disadvantaged, 19% are English Language Learners, and 20% are students with disabilities. The program combines homework help, executive functioning skill-building, and supportive enrichment in a safe, structured setting. Novella Prep, a Rye-based education services organization specializing in executive functioning, study skills, and curriculum design, provides the program curriculum, pre-service training, and ongoing coaching. Novella Prep motivates and teaches students how to achieve their academic potential, empowering students from the inside out with core skills and strategies that foster long-term academic and personal success. The Rye YMCA delivers staffing, program management, and family engagement, and administers all hiring and payroll for this position. Position Overview The Rye YMCA is hiring two teachers to lead daily afterschool sessions at Mamaroneck Avenue School. Teachers deliver Novella Prep's executive functioning curriculum — organization, time management, planning, and self-regulation — embedded in daily homework support, serving two cohorts of 60 students in grades 4–5 (one cohort per semester, with a monthly check-in session for the off-semester cohort). Because this program is built around Mamaroneck Avenue School and its students, current MAS teachers and staff are strongly encouraged to apply. This position is subject to grant funding.
