Job Description The Staff Pharmacist will be responsible for performing and overseeing high-risk sterile compounding steps such as API dissolution, pH adjustment, sterilizing filtration, and aseptic filling operations. These tasks are conducted under ISO 5 conditions within ISO 7/8 room architecture. The pharmacist ensures line clearance, correct workflow execution, and maintains contemporaneous, accurate production documentation. They complete real-time checklists for contamination control and ensure batch records are inspection-ready. The role involves supervising viable/non-viable monitoring activities, supporting deviation reporting, and collaborating cross-functionally with QA. Additionally, the pharmacist will operate within controlled substance access rules and maintain strict chain-of-custody behaviors. Responsibilities • Perform and oversee high-risk sterile compounding under ISO 5 conditions., • Ensure line clearance and correct workflow execution., • Maintain accurate production documentation and complete checklists for contamination control., • Supervise viable/non-viable monitoring activities and participate in trend reviews., • Support deviation reporting and provide production-side facts for investigations., • Operate within controlled substance access rules and maintain chain-of-custody behaviors., • Participate in SOP training and cleanroom qualification., • Coach technicians in aseptic technique behaviors and documentation discipline., • PharmD degree., • Active pharmacist license in New York State or ability to obtain promptly., • 5+ years of sterile compounding experience., • Demonstrated experience in 503A, 503B, or cGMP sterile manufacturing., • Strong cGMP documentation discipline., • Ability to support on-site pharmacist coverage during compounding operations. Work is performed on-site in a state-of-the-art sterile compounding cleanroom facility. The environment includes ISO Class 7 cleanroom areas with ISO Class 5 primary engineering controls. Strict adherence to gowning and PPE requirements is mandatory. The role requires extended periods of standing and handling tasks that require fine motor skills and concentration. Occasional lifting of containers or equipment up to 25 lbs may be needed. The work environment is highly regulated, with continuous environmental monitoring to ensure ISO standards. The pharmacist must follow all safety protocols, including handling hazardous drugs per USP <800>. The position is full-time, typically conducted during standard business hours, with flexibility required to meet production schedules. The pharmacist may occasionally need to be available for on-call consultation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colonie, NY.
