Job Description Senior IT Support Engineer New York, NY (Manhattan) – Onsite 5 Days Per Week Overview We are a leading boutique investment banking firm with approximately 200 employees, seeking a Senior IT Support Engineer to join our Technology team in New York. This role is highly visible across the firm and is responsible for delivering exceptional end-user support while maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of our desktop and user-facing technology environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technologist with strong customer service instincts who thrives in fast-paced financial services environments. This individual will support employees across the firm, including senior executives, by resolving technical issues, deploying hardware and software, and assisting with infrastructure and desktop-related projects. This role requires someone who is comfortable troubleshooting complex issues, managing modern endpoint environments, and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless technology operations. Key Responsibilities End-User Support • Provide onsite and remote technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, applications, and peripherals., • Diagnose and resolve technical issues across hardware, software, networking, and system access., • Manage and track support requests using the helpdesk ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with users., • Deliver white-glove technology support to executives and senior professionals., • Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for issues not resolved by first or second-level support., • Provide after-hours or on-call support when required. Hardware & Infrastructure Support • Configure, deploy, and maintain laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices, desk phones, and conference room AV systems., • Support corporate technology infrastructure including:, • Network equipment (LAN/WLAN), • Security appliances, • Data center hardware and systems, • Storage and server hardware, • Assist with conference room technology and collaboration platforms. Systems & Software Administration • Administer and support Microsoft Windows Server environments and core infrastructure services., • Manage user accounts, groups, and permissions across enterprise platforms including:, • Active Directory, • Microsoft Exchange / Microsoft 365, • File and Print Servers, • Support remote access solutions such as:, • Microsoft RDP, • Administer and support enterprise platforms, including:, • Email security gateways, • Endpoint security platforms, • SaaS administration portals, • Support Windows and Mac operating systems and corporate productivity applications, including:, • Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365, • Zoom, Teams, • Adobe Acrobat, • Enterprise browsers and endpoint security agents. Endpoint Management & Maintenance • Perform system updates, security patching, firmware updates, and endpoint upgrades., • Manage and maintain computer imaging and deployment solutions., • Ensure operating system images and endpoint configurations remain up-to-date with current security standards., • Support enterprise patch management and endpoint lifecycle management. Documentation & Knowledge Management • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides., • Document issues, root causes, and resolutions within the internal knowledge base., • Develop and update user training materials and technical reference guides. Asset Management • Maintain accurate inventory records for hardware, software licenses, and IT assets., • Track equipment provisioning, repairs, and replacements., • Support and maintain the firm’s IT asset management system. Projects & Continuous Improvement • Lead or contribute to desktop and endpoint-related projects including:, • Operating system migrations, • Software rollouts, • Hardware refresh cycles, • Patch management initiatives, • Coordinate with external vendors for hardware, software, and infrastructure support., • Research and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency, security, and user experience., • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement within desktop support operations. Qualifications Experience • 8+ years of hands-on IT support experience, preferably in professional services or financial services environments., • Experience supporting small-to-mid sized organizations (100–300 employees) preferred., • Prior experience in investment banking, hedge funds, private equity, law firms, or family offices is highly desirable. Technical Skills Hardware Experience supporting: • Windows desktops and laptops and associated peripherals, • Mac desktops and MacBooks, • iOS and Android mobile devices, • Network-connected printers and copiers, • Networking equipment, • Server hardware, • Storage appliances, • Security appliances, • UPS / power systems, • Environmental monitoring systems Systems & Platforms Experience with: • Windows Server administration, • Active Directory, • Microsoft Exchange / Microsoft 365, • Windows File and Print Servers, • Remote desktop and VPN technologies, • Endpoint security platforms, • Patch management solutions, • Enterprise endpoint imaging tools Professional Skills • Strong customer service and communication skills., • Ability to support senior executives with professionalism and discretion., • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities., • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail., • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively., • Experience working in highly confidential and security-sensitive environments. Education • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
