Job Description POSITION SUMMARY City Parks Education has been offering interdisciplinary environmental education programs in schools and parks since 1992. The Coastal Classroom after-school program focuses on coastal ecology, water quality, urban waterfront restoration and preservation on the NYC waterfront, with sites in Inwood Hill Park in Manhattan, Bushwick Inlet Park in Williamsburg, Kaiser Park in Coney Island and Hallet's Cove Beach, Astoria, Queens. Coastal Classroom will provide after-school programming for up to 20-30 middle school students at each of the 3 locations, using site-specific inquiry-based lessons to stimulate meaningful learning experiences in their own communities. Between late September and December, the Coastal Classroom after-school program will engage middle school students in coastal ecology and maritime training, through instruction as well as trips to coastal areas and visits to organizations performing similar work. CPF has developed this fellowship opportunity for ambitious 11th or 12th grade high school students to gain hands-on experience and explore the environmental education sector, while helping to promote stewardship of our waterways and coastal areas. Selected interns will gain valuable work experience, putting their skills to use while expanding their knowledge of the field. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Manager of Rental Events is responsible for developing and implementing a rental program for three venues managed by City Parks Foundation. Rental of these spaces provides much needed revenue that is used by City Parks Foundation to help support our free programs around New York City. During the summer season of approximately mid-May through early October, the schedule for this position will mirror the SummerStage event schedule, which includes evening and weekend hours. From mid-October through early May, the position will follow a hybrid office schedule, with two days per week in office, currently Wednesday & Thursday. The Manager reports to the Director of Arts Operations. The venues are: Rumsey Playfield in Central Park (90%): home to the Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage festival, a 5,500 capacity outdoor venue fully built out for concerts and other performances from mid-May through early October. The venue can be rented in full for private events including galas, corporate dinners, product launches, conferences, TV productions, and more. During SummerStage performances, smaller VIP areas may be rented for client/employee entertaining for groups of approximately 10-75 or more. • Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre in Central Park (5%): a children’s theater in an historic building near West 81st Street that contains a small indoor theater seating up to 100 and an adjacent room suitable for birthday parties, dinners, or other small receptions for up to 30-40. Location has also been used for film shoots. COMPENSATION: $75 - $85,000 per year RESPONSIBILITIES • Create sales packages and devise marketing strategies to promote the availability of rental spaces., • Identify and proactively approach prospective renters to secure rental agreements., • Develop and maintain a diverse portfolio of industry contacts. Work with other City Parks Foundation staff and consultants to cultivate existing relationships and identify new prospects., • Conduct walk-throughs and other meetings to share information with potential renters about the locations., • Coordinate with Client & Patron Services Coordinator for SummerStage calendar management, NYC Parks permitting, ticketing, and other event execution needs. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY CPF is seeking to hire experienced players, coaches or teachers to teach free beginner tennis lessons to children and seniors in NYC parks. Lessons for seniors are typically held in the Spring and Fall on weekday mornings. Job Description HANDYPERSON Handypersons provide general support for the Public Theater’s facilities. This is an active role that conducts basic maintenance at the Public Theater’s site.
