Job Summary: The Dispatch Manager oversees the daily operations of the dispatch department, ensuring efficient, timely, and cost-effective scheduling and routing of freight. This role manages dispatchers, coordinates with drivers and fleet personnel, maintains compliance with federal and state regulations, and ensures customer satisfaction through reliable service execution. Key Responsibilities: 1. Dispatch Operations • Manage and monitor the dispatching of trucks and drivers to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries., • Adjust plans in real-time to accommodate traffic, weather, delays, or customer needs., • Monitor fleet GPS and ELD systems to track vehicle movement and driver status. 2. Team Management • Supervise and schedule dispatchers across all shifts., • Provide training, performance feedback, and coaching to dispatch team members., • Ensure dispatchers follow company policies, DOT regulations, and safety procedures. 3. Driver Coordination • Serve as primary point of contact for drivers during their routes., • Address driver concerns related to loads, routing, or breakdowns., • Ensure drivers are compliant with Hours of Service (HOS), safety protocols, and company expectations. 4. Customer Service • Coordinate with customer service and sales teams to meet service level expectations., • Communicate proactively with customers regarding delays, delivery times, and scheduling., • Resolve service-related issues and ensure satisfaction. 5. Reporting & Compliance • Maintain accurate dispatch records, including route logs, fuel usage, and incident reports., • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company-specific requirements. Required: • 3–5 years of experience in trucking dispatch or transportation management, • 1–2 years of supervisory experience, • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and ELD systems, • Proficient with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and GPS tracking tools, • Experience with refrigerated or intermodal freight, • Fast-paced office environment, may require weekend or after-hours availability, • Occasional travel to terminals or customer sites, • May require being on-call to respond to operational emergencies
