Who you are The Metropolis Policy Fellowship is a six-month student mentorship initiative designed to cultivate future leaders in public policy, emerging technologies, and urban studies. This program offers hands-on research experience, direct mentorship from senior leaders at Metropolis, and a flexible commitment tailored to complement your academic schedule. As a Policy Fellow, you will conduct an independent research project and produce a policy paper on a topic related to AI and emerging technologies, urban policy, mobility and parking, or the recognition economy. A $3,000 cash stipend will be provided upon successful completion of the program to be used toward educational expenses. Compensation for air travel and two nights of hotel stay for the final reception in Nashville will be provided for New York and Los Angeles fellows. The Metropolis Government Affairs team will also make a reasonable effort to recommend the publication of the best reports externally or publish a shortened version on the Metropolis blog. What you'll do • Design and execute a self-directed research project on a policy topic relevant to Metropolis' business, such as AI/computer vision, urban policy, parking, or mobility, • Produce a high-quality policy white paper by the August 31, 2026, deadline, adhering to established best practices. Job Description About Us: New York Edge is the largest provider of after-school and summer camp programs in New York City public schools. Each year, academic programs—including STEM, the arts, sports and wellness, and college access—help 40,000 students develop leadership skills and succeed in school. Summary The Education Specialist’s primary concern is the improvement of learning opportunities for students attending the New York Edge After School Program. The Educational Specialist is an on-site instructional leader who collaborates closely with the Education Department and the Site Director to support front-line staff (Academic Enrichment Coaches and Activity Specialists) in delivering skill-based curricula and thematic projects. The Education Specialist’s role is to support program instructional/enrichment goals by ensuring activities are structured, age-appropriate, and aligned to school-day instructional practices and model effective classroom management (as needed). The education specialist has the role of coach and consultant in advising the site director, teachers, academic enrichment coaches, and activity specialists who work within the after-school program. SCHEDULE: * 9-15 hours per week * Monday - Friday 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm * This role requires you to be in-person Essential Job Functions: * Ensures classroom instruction aligns with New York Edge quality standards during academic and enrichment activities * Provides oversight of curricula implementation to support school-day instruction. * Observe and provide feedback to activity specialists, teachers, and group leaders daily, providing advice and modeling lessons as needed. City Parks Foundation seeks an experienced environmental educator with deep knowledge of and passion for environmental resiliency and community advocacy.
