Job Description Job Summary The Fuel & Grease Service Mechanic is responsible for traveling between construction and landscape job sites throughout New Jersey and New York to perform preventative maintenance, fueling, lubrication, inspections, and minor repairs on company-owned equipment and vehicles. This position plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring equipment remains properly serviced, safe, and ready for daily production. Key Responsibilities: • Travel daily between company job sites throughout New Jersey and New York., • Fuel heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, and construction machinery., • Perform routine greasing and lubrication services on excavators, loaders, skid steers, trucks, trailers, and other equipment., • Conduct daily and weekly preventative maintenance inspections., • Check and maintain fluid levels, including engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and DEF., • Inspect equipment for leaks, wear, damage, and safety concerns., • Perform basic mechanical repairs and adjustments in the field when appropriate., • Identify maintenance issues and communicate repair needs to the Lead Mechanic and maintenance department., • Maintain accurate service logs, fuel records, and equipment inspection reports., • Coordinate with field supervisors to ensure equipment service schedules are met with minimal disruption to operations., • Maintain service truck inventory, including lubricants, filters, fueling supplies, and maintenance tools., • Adhere to all company safety procedures and DOT requirements., • Ensure a clean, organized, and professional service vehicle and work environment. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with heavy equipment, fleet maintenance, diesel equipment, or construction machinery., • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and lubrication practices., • Basic mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills., • Ability to identify common equipment maintenance issues and safety concerns., • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record., • CDL preferred or willingness to obtain. Preferred Skills • Experience servicing construction, landscape, or heavy civil equipment., • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment operations., • Familiarity with DOT inspections and fleet maintenance procedures., • Experience operating service trucks and mobile fueling equipment., • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus., • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred., • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus., • Strong organizational and communication skills.
