ph3Overview /h3 pApplications are invited for a fully funded 4-year PhD position to work under my supervision on the Metal-THINGS survey of nearby galaxies. The student would join our active group at the Complutense University of Madrid (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). /p pThe Metal-THINGS survey is obtaining IFU spectroscopy for a unique sample of 34 nearby galaxies. These galaxies have been extensively observed across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio to UV, including data from HST, JWST, VLA, LOFAR, and Dustpedia. With more than 130 nights of observations already completed using the IFU instrument VIRUS-P at McDonald Observatory (Texas), Metal-THINGS provides thousands of spectra at spatial scales of 40–300 pc. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liAnalyze star formation rates (SFRs) across different galaxy environments. /li liInvestigate the multiwavelength properties of Metal-THINGS galaxies. /li liExplore the interplay between stellar populations, gas, dust, and feedback in shaping galaxy evolution. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liUndergraduate degree in Physics or a related field, and a Master’s degree, preferably in Astrophysics or a related area. /li liGood level of English (spoken and written). /li liProgramming experience (Python or R preferred). /li liPrevious experience with spectroscopy or galaxy surveys is an advantage, but not required. /li liApplications from women and underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged. /li /ul h3How to apply /h3 ul liInterested candidates should send the following documents to : /li liA CV /li liTranscripts of undergraduate and Master’s studies (in English if possible, at this stage a simple online translation is acceptable, together with the original copy) /li liContact details of one referee. /li /ul h3Deadline /h3 pPriority will be given to applications received by September 12, 2025.
