Job Description DePuy Synthes is recruiting for the HEMA Lead Spain & Portugal role based in Madrid, Spain. The HEMA Lead Spain & Portugal leads Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) strategy and execution for DePuy Synthes Spain and Portugal, ensuring optimal reimbursement, access, and adoption of innovative orthopaedic solutions. The role is accountable for shaping value‑based access strategies, engaging key external stakeholders, and enabling sustainable business performance aligned with country and EMEA priorities. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate its Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The separation is expected to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal and regulatory requirements. Upon completion, employees will be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. Key Responsibilities • Define and execute HEMA strategy for Spain and Portugal aligned with DePuy Synthes and EMEA priorities., • Develop and deliver market access and funding strategies to enable adoption and sustainable growth., • Build and maintain strategic relationships with payers, HTA bodies, institutional decision-makers and relevant authorities to shape the external environment and advance value‑based adoption., • Lead EMEA‑aligned evidence generation and value creation activities and translate insights into local value messages, tools and materials., • Partner cross‑functionally with Marketing, Sales, Medical/Clinical and Regulatory teams to develop and execute market access and reimbursement strategies across the product lifecycle., • Navigate centralized and regional access dynamics across Spain and Portugal, including hospital‑ and region‑based decision pathways, support access optimization within regional healthcare systems, institutions, and tender environments., • Ensure effective deployment of health economic tools, value assets and training to enable internal stakeholders and strengthen field activation., • Monitor execution against HEMA priorities and business objectives, ensuring alignment to agreed plans, milestones and governance expectations., • Ensure compliance with applicable quality, ethics and local regulatory requirements, consistent with EMEA HEMA standards., • This role may take on direct responsibility for a priority and strategic business at EMEA regional level, defined according to EMEA needs, ensuring HEMA strategy and execution align with business priorities and performance objectives.Scope & Impact Full strategic responsibility for HEMA outcomes in Spain and Portugal, with high autonomy and direct impact on access success, innovation adoption, and revenue sustainability. This role may also hold direct responsibility for a priority and strategic business at EMEA regional level (defined according to EMEA needs), ensuring HEMA strategy and execution align with business priorities, performance objectives, and value delivery expectations. Qualifications Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in Health Economics, Public Health, Life Sciences or related field. 7+ years of experience in Market Access or HEMA roles, preferably within MedTech or Pharmaceuticals.
