Interim Plant Controller / Industrial Controller (3–6 Months) Location: Rennes region (2–3 days/week on site) Languages: Fluent French & English Sector: Premium FMCG / Manufacturing A rapidly growing international manufacturing group, Private Equity-backed and scaling across Europe, is seeking an experienced Interim Plant Controller to stabilise, structure, and elevate the finance function of one of its key French production sites. You will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, operational visibility, and alignment between the French factory and the group finance organisation in the UK. This is a hands-on, operational finance role suited to someone who thrives inside the factory environment and can work directly with production, supply chain, and site leadership teams. Key Responsibilities Factory Finance & Reporting • Own factory-level P&L and provide meaningful performance insights, • Improve accuracy, speed, and consistency of factory reporting, • Ensure financial data aligns with group standards and UK reporting structures, • Build or upgrade reporting packs for site and group stakeholders Costing & Variance Analysis • Manage and refine standard costing (essential), • Perform detailed variance analysis: material usage, labour efficiency, overhead absorption, • Investigate inconsistencies and drive corrective actions with operational teams Operational Finance Partnering • Work closely with the Factory GM, production, supply chain, and quality teams, • Act as the on-site finance lead and trusted advisor, • Challenge, train, and upskill non-financial stakeholders Process Improvement • Review current French site reporting processes, • Identify gaps and implement practical, factory-friendly improvements, • Ensure controls, data flow, and documentation are robust and sustainable Experience Required • Strong background in manufacturing / industrial finance (FMCG a plus), • Proven experience as a Plant Controller, Site Controller, Industrial Controller, or Factory Management Accountant, • Standard costing expertise – non-negotiable, • Experience working with operational teams inside a production facility, • Ability to navigate French site reporting and translate into group formats, • Comfortable in fast-paced, private-equity-backed environments, • Fluent French + strong English Personal Fit • Hands-on, pragmatic, and comfortable being physically present on site, • Strong communicator able to influence both French operational teams and UK finance leadership, • Solutions-focused, structured, and able to bring clarity quickly, • Adaptable and confident in environments with evolving processes
