Senior Accountant – Brighton Salary: £40,000–£45,000Location: BrightonJob Type: Full-time, Hybrid Reed Brighton is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice who are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their growing team in Brighton. The Role As a Senior Accountant, you will manage a small and diverse portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for the delivery of accurate accounts, tax computations, and compliance work. You’ll work closely with clients, management, and junior team members, ensuring high standards of service and contributing to the continuing development of the team. Key Responsibilities • Manage a client portfolio including Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies., • Deliver full accounts production with minimal supervision, including complex and group assignments., • Prepare accurate corporate tax computations and demonstrate strong knowledge across VAT, income tax, and related areas., • Work within set budgets, raising concerns or adjustments with management where needed., • Support workflow management, including planning, allocating, and reviewing work., • Mentor and guide junior staff members, providing technical support and training., • Take a hands-on role to ensure deadlines, quality, and client expectations are met., • Identify risks and implement improvements in processes and client service. We are looking for an individual with a strong technical background and excellent communication skills. You will ideally have: • ACA/ACCA qualification, AAT qualification with strong PQE, or be QBE with relevant experience., • Recent and relevant experience in accounts preparation and a solid understanding of accounting standards., • Experience managing your own client portfolio and supporting junior colleagues., • Strong knowledge of accounting systems and financial control environments., • Working knowledge of Sage and Xero; experience with CCH, Sage50, or Netsuite is desirable., • Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and Pivot Tables., • Excellent communication and client-facing skills., • Strong organisational ability and a proactive, problem-solving mindset., • Competitive pension scheme, • Group life assurance (4x salary), • Healthcare cash plan (post-probation), • Hybrid working – 3 days in office, 2 from home, • Flexible working hours, • Holiday buy/sell scheme, • Regular company social events
