Deliver technically complex civil engineering designs across multiple sectors At BakerHicks, we specialise in delivering high‑quality civil engineering design for complex and critical infrastructure projects. We are looking for a Civil Engineer to join our growing team and contribute to technically challenging work across a range of regulated sectors. You will be involved in the design of power and energy infrastructure, including substations, grid connections, and renewable energy facilities, alongside projects within industrial, defence, and public sector environments. The role offers strong technical depth, exposure to varied projects, and long‑term career development. What you will be doing • Designing and specifying civil engineering works for large‑scale infrastructure projects, including earthworks, drainage, utilities, and external works, • Producing detailed drawings, technical specifications, calculations, and reports to a high professional standard, • Working closely with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable design solutions, • Reviewing calculations and subcontractor designs to ensure compliance, quality, and best practice, • Supporting and mentoring early‑career engineers while contributing to technical excellence within the team What we are looking for • A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, • Experience delivering civil engineering design on infrastructure projects, with hands‑on involvement in earthworks, drainage systems, external works, utilities coordination, and site‑wide infrastructure design, • Experience in one or more infrastructure sectors, with power sector experience desirable, • Working towards Chartered or Incorporated status with ICE or IStructE, • Experience producing and reviewing drawings, calculations, and technical specifications, • Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar design and draughting software, • Good working knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards, CDM regulations, and BIM processes, • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and multi‑disciplinary teams, • Eligibility for security clearance, which is essential for certain projects Why join BakerHicks? • Work on nationally significant infrastructure projects across multiple sectors, • Hybrid working with flexibility and clear opportunities for career progression, • Full support towards Chartership and continued professional development, • A collaborative environment focused on technical quality and engineering rigour Make your mark through high‑quality civil engineering design on projects that matter.
