At Warburtons, we’re looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our Bellshill site on a full‑time, permanent basis. You’ll play a key role leading a team of drivers, keeping our products moving safely and on time—while also having the chance to broaden your skills into Warehouse supervision along the way. About the role As a Transport Shift Manager, you’ll lead a team of drivers to deliver our daily transport plan—safely, legally and efficiently. You’ll be the go‑to person on shift for operational decisions, people leadership and standards, making sure we keep our people safe, service levels high and costs under control. Key responsibilities Safety first, always: lead the HSE agenda on shift, role‑model safe behaviours, and see investigations through to root cause and robust actions. Lead and develop your team: set clear expectations, coach performance, recognise great work, and manage issues fairly and consistently. Ensure legal and policy compliance: actively manage driver and vehicle compliance in line with operator licence requirements and Warburtons standards. Deliver the daily plan: manage priorities in real time, solve problems fast, and keep service to our network and customers on track. Customer focus: build strong internal relationships (planning, warehouse, site leadership and support functions) and contribute to OTIF/SLA performance. Continuous improvement: support site initiatives and improvement projects—bringing ideas, data and energy to make things better. Cost control: take accountability for controllable costs on shift (resource, agency/third party where applicable, and operational spend). Standards and housekeeping: maintain company and statutory hygiene/housekeeping standards across your areas. What we’re looking for Proven experience leading teams in a transport, logistics or distribution environment (ideally multi‑drop / time‑critical operations). Strong working knowledge of transport compliance and driver/vehicle standards, with confidence to challenge and improve. A calm, decisive approach—able to manage competing priorities and make good calls under pressure. Great people skills: coaching, performance management, and building engagement on shift. Comfortable using operational systems and data to drive performance and continuous improvement. A genuine commitment to safety and doing the right thing—no shortcuts. About Us You’ll be based at our Bellshill distribution site at Sholto Crescent, Righead Industrial Estate, Bellshill, ML4 3LX. Bellshill bakery is located between Glasgow and Edinburgh and proudly supports Scotland as our Scottish Manufacturing site, with nearly 300 colleagues working a variety of shift patterns. With two bread plants, we produce a variety of products and are the sole producer of Milk Roll for the UK. In total, we produce just under a million units weekly. Our Secondary team of 57 drivers deliver around 1 million products per week to over 1,000 customers daily, covering 30,000kms per week. Our Primary team of 21 drivers deliver around 2 million products per week travelling as far south as Manchester and as far north as Inverness and Aberdeen. We service all of Scotland through our complex network working in partnership with carriers to ensure our products arrive on time on a daily basis. We take pride in our compliance as a DVSA Earned Recognition operator, we share our driver and vehicle information to prove our compliance. We operate a mixed fleet of 10 tractor units, 11 trailers and 36 rigid vehicles. We take sustainability seriously investing in alternatively fuelled vehicles such as CNG and electric. Recently we have taken delivery of 6 new CNG tractor units reducing our emissions by up to 80%. Did you know?
