Allkin Tap & Bottle – General Manager Role Overview Title: General Manager – Allkin Tap & Bottle Location: Calverley Road, Tunbridge Wells Reports to: Allkin Directors Role type: Full Time + 10% Profit Share Salary: (£45-55k pa) About Allkin We are building a new kind of hospitality: regenerative, community first, and people led. At our Tap & Bottle in Tunbridge Wells, we have created a space where craft beer, natural wine, great food, and genuine connection come together. This is not just about pouring pints, it is about building a place people belong. The Tap & Bottle is also part of something bigger. It is a front door to Oakridge, our flagship regenerative venue being built just outside Tunbridge Wells. Oakridge will be home to our brewhouse, bakehouse, roastery, and a 400+ capacity event space. The Tap & Bottle is where the community starts, where locals meet Allkin for the first time, and where the ethos of people first hospitality comes to life every day. The Role We are looking for a General Manager to lead Allkin Tap & Bottle with passion, creativity, and care. This is not a transactional service role. It is about delivering true hospitality: welcoming people in, remembering their names, sparking conversation, and shaping experiences that make guests feel part of something bigger. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the venue, leading and inspiring the team, and ensuring that everything from service to stock to storytelling reflects the Allkin ethos. Success in the First 90 Days 30 Days Foundations • Understand Allkin’s culture, values, and regenerative hospitality ethos, • Learn & build daily systems, processes, and guest flow, • Build relationships with staff: 1:1s with every team member to understand strengths, goals, and challenges, • Get to know key suppliers and partners, • Establish presence on the floor: meet regulars, engage with guests, learn names and preferences, • Review rota, stock systems, and compliance basics, • Present a “state of play” report to Directors: what’s working, what needs attention 60 Days Implementation • Take full ownership of day to day operations (rota, stock, financials, compliance), • Improve service flow and guest experience: identify friction points and implement quick wins, • Stabilise rota: balance hours, ensure fair shifts, reduce last minute changes, • Begin to nurture guest relationships: increase number of returning guests through consistent hospitality, • Support first small scale community events (e.g. a tap takeover, tasting night, or club meet up), • Provide first financial and operational review: margins, KPIs, staff feedback, guest feedback, • Develop 2 to 3 initiatives to boost team motivation and culture, • Deliver community led event (e.g. supper club, run club, live music, or collaboration) 90 Days Growth & Leadership • Show measurable improvement in guest return rate and average spend per head, • Strengthen team culture: reduce turnover, increase engagement, ensure everyone feels part of the bigger mission, • Present clear strategy for the next 6 months: events calendar, staffing plan, and financial targets, • Improve gross margins and cost controls while maintaining guest experience, • Align Tap & Bottle with Oakridge narrative: communicate the bigger Allkin story to guests in everyday service, • Be fully operating as the “face” of the Tap & Bottle, trusted by team, loved by community, respected by Directors Key Responsibilities • Lead and inspire the team to deliver exceptional, heartfelt hospitality, • Create a culture where staff feel valued, motivated, and entrepreneurial, • Oversee all operational aspects of the venue: rota, stock, compliance, finances, • Build relationships with guests, turning first time visitors into regulars, • Work with the Directors to bring events, collaborations, and community led ideas to life, • Manage budgets, margins, and KPIs while balancing commercial success with community spirit, • Ensure the venue is a reflection of Allkin’s values: sustainable, welcoming, and rooted in people first experiences What We Are Looking For • Proven leadership in hospitality or similar environment, • A passion for people and creating memorable experiences, • Strong organisational and financial management skills, • Ability to build and nurture a high performing and engaged team, • Entrepreneurial mindset that sees opportunities not just problems, • Aligned with Allkin’s mission of community, sustainability, and regeneration Why Join Allkin • Be part of a pioneering regenerative hospitality movement, • Increase your earnings based on your own performance, rewarded directly for your work., • Opportunity to grow with the company as we expand, • Freedom to bring ideas, events, and creativity into the venue, • Competitive salary plus 10% profit share, • Work in a team that genuinely cares about people, product, and purpose Excited to be part of something bigger?
