Job Role: Vocational Trades Tutor (Multi-Skills) HMP Brixton Location: HMP Brixton Salary: £35,000 + £5,000 London Weighting Contract: Permanent, full-time Working Environment: Prison-based role with full on-site delivery Role Overview We are looking for an experienced and motivated Vocational Trades Tutor to deliver high-quality, multi-skills training to learners at HMP Brixton . This is a hands-on role focused on developing practical skills, knowledge, and confidence in adults who may have had limited prior education. You will deliver Level 12 vocational training across a range of trades including bricklaying, painting & decorating, carpentry, and basic electrics supporting learners to achieve qualifications and progress towards employment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about skills development, rehabilitation, and transforming lives through education . Key Responsibilities Vocational Training Delivery Deliver engaging, practical lessons across multiple trades (bricklaying, painting & decorating, carpentry, electrics) up to Level 2. Create personalised learning plans that support individual goals and progression. Develop structured lesson plans and schemes of work that embed employability skills. Motivate and encourage learners to improve attendance, engagement, and achievement. Provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs. Learner Progress & Support Identify learning barriers and provide tailored support to improve outcomes. Foster positive learning behaviours and promote commitment to personal development. Support learners in gaining skills that reduce re-offending and increase employability. Compliance & Programme Administration Complete all documentation accurately, including ILPs, registers, reviews, and awarding body paperwork. Ensure adherence to safeguarding, health & safety, and data protection requirements. Work to contractual KPIs, quality standards, and inspection frameworks. Teamwork & Continuous Improvement Collaborate with colleagues, prison staff, and external partners to support learner progression. Contribute to curriculum development and ongoing improvement initiatives. Participate in standardisation meetings, quality audits, and professional development. Essential Criteria Level 2 qualification in one or more trades (bricklaying, painting & decorating, carpentry, electrics). Strong, hands-on vocational experience within at least one relevant trade. Experience delivering training or mentoring in a practical, skills-based environment. Ability to motivate and engage learners with varied abilities and backgrounds. Clear understanding of safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and data protection. Desirable Criteria Teaching or assessing qualification (or willingness to work towards one). Experience in curriculum development or roll-on, roll-off delivery models. Empathy and experience working with disadvantaged groups or secure environments. Knowledge of the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework (EIF). TPBN1_UKTJ
