Employee Relations Manager (Maternity Cover) Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum DOE Location: York / Hybrid (national travel required) Contract: 15-Month Fixed Term Contract (to January 2027) Please note: This role is maternity cover only with no opportunity to become permanent. National travel will be required to support ER cases across services, including regular visits to York. Remit Compass Associates are proud to be partnering with a leading UK health and social care provider to recruit an Employee Relations Manager for a maternity cover fixed-term contract. The organisation operates a network of specialist centres and services nationwide, supporting people to achieve their goals in a values-driven environment. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in supporting their people strategy within a complex and fast-paced setting. The Role The Employee Relations Manager will be responsible for providing national ER support across the organisation during the fixed-term contract. Reporting into the senior HR leadership team, the postholder will manage a high volume of complex ER cases and line manage an ER Advisor within the newly formed People Services Team. Key responsibilities include: • Managing complex ER cases, including investigations, disciplinary, grievance, probation, sickness and flexible working requests., • Handling litigation, including responding to ECs and tribunal preparation., • Coaching and advising managers to resolve ER issues effectively., • Attending services across the UK for casework and stakeholder engagement., • Direct line management of an ER Advisor, ensuring development and effective case handling., • Preparing and presenting insights, MI and trend analysis to inform decision-making., • Supporting key organisational projects including restructures, TUPE and policy development., • Leading the full review of ER policies, procedures and toolkits., • Delivering national ER training to upskill managers. This is a high-volume, transactional role with significant exposure across the organisation, requiring confidence, resilience, and the ability to build credibility quickly. Location Hybrid working is offered, with home working alongside national travel to services. Regular visits to York will be expected. Essential Criteria • Degree level or equivalent (CIPD Level 7 or working towards)., • Strong background in ER case management within complex, regulated settings., • Proven experience in policy development, complex case management, and tribunal handling., • Experience coaching and developing managers on ER issues., • Previous line management experience., • Pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with excellent employment law knowledge. The Candidate The successful candidate will be a confident ER professional with experience managing a high volume of cases at pace. You will bring both technical expertise and the interpersonal skills needed to influence managers, develop best practice, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
