We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Isle of Wight to assist with the appointment of a Highways Project Manager on a 6-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay: 35.94- 47.26 per hour Summary: The Highways Project Manager will play a vital role in supporting the Service Director and Strategic Manager in the development planning and successful delivery of a significant programme of travel transport and highway infrastructure schemes within the Isle of Wight Councils capital investment portfolio. The role requires expert application of robust project management methodologies effective risk mitigation and active engagement with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects from conception through to completion and hand-over. Responsibilities: • Oversee and direct projects within the assigned portfolio from conception through completion ensuring timely delivery adherence to scope and alignment with strategic objectives., • Establish appropriate project governance structures and produce clear concise documentation and reports for presentation to relevant boards and committees (internal and external)., • Facilitate and support co-operative and partnership working with communities partners and stakeholders including local businesses and government bodies., • Lead regular and proactive engagement with the local community to communicate progress manage expectations and gather feedback related to scheme delivery., • Directly manage and deliver the DfT Safer Roads scheme and associated safety improvements., • Lead the delivery of Active Travel schemes linked to the Councils Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIP)., • Implement and manage Equalities Act compliance improvements and specific Pedestrian Improvement schemes across the IOW network., • Degree level qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in Civil Engineering Transport Planning Project Management or a relevant technical discipline., • Demonstrable qualification or certification in a recognised Project Management methodology (e.g. PRINCE2 APM)., • Significant experience in managing and delivering a portfolio of complex infrastructure highways or civil engineering projects from conception to completion., • Proven expertise in establishing and operating project governance frameworks reporting to board level and producing detailed project documentation., • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
