The Rewards and Benefits on offer:\n\n The opportunity to join a growing and forward-thinking organisation with a strong focus on technology and continuous improvement\n\n A long-term, permanent position offering stability and career progression\n\n Competitive salary and benefits package\n\n Private healthcare and health cash plan\n\n Company pension scheme\n\n 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays\n\n Exposure to a wide range of IT systems, technologies, and projects\n\n Training and development opportunities\n\n A supportive and collaborative working environment\n\nMTrec’s new client opportunity:\nAn established and expanding organisation based in the Northeast is seeking a proactive and technically capable IT Support Engineer to support and enhance its IT infrastructure.\n\nThis role offers broad exposure across business-critical systems and projects, making it ideal for a hands-on individual with a passion for technology, strong problem-solving skills, and a desire to contribute to both day-to-day operations and longer-term improvement initiatives.\n\nCandidates with experience supporting IT environments in fast-paced or operational settings are encouraged to apply for an immediate response.\n\nThe Job you will do\n\n Carry out daily IT checks and routine maintenance, including backups, log reviews, and system health checks\n\n Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues\n\n Manage and escalate IT incidents and change requests via a service desk system\n\n Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware and software, ensuring licensing compliance\n\n Support onboarding and offboarding activities, including user accounts, devices, and workspace moves\n\n Ensure desktops, laptops, and servers are patched in line with compliance requirements\n\n Support and deliver IT projects as directed, working with other departments where required\n\n Liaise with external suppliers and support partners when necessary\n\n Provide support for business systems, including reporting and data outputs\n\n Assist with network cabling tasks and infrastructure changes (training provided where required)\n\n Adhere to IT policies, procedures, and security standards\n\n Participate in security awareness and compliance training\n\n Report security incidents and non-conformances in line with internal procedures\n\n Work within relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks\n\n Support internal audits, certifications, and compliance initiatives\n\n * Undertake occasional out-of-hours work to support project delivery\n\nAbout You:\n\nProven experience in an IT support or IT engineering role\n\nStrong knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems\n\nExperience with SQL is essential\n\nExperience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, and network troubleshooting\n\nExperience installing and supporting servers, including migrations\n\nWorking knowledge of networking and firewall technologies\n\nFamiliarity with virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V\n\nExcellent problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail\n\nSelf-motivated with a proactive and practical approach\n\nStrong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a wider team\n\nEducated to GCSE level (or equivalent) or able to demonstrate relevant industry experience\n\nA genuine interest in IT and continuous professional development\n\nExperience supporting ERP or business-critical systems\n\nExposure to operational or manufacturing-style environments\n\nAwareness of cyber security standards and frameworks\n\nExperience supporting information security management systems\n\nRelevant IT certifications (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft, or equivalent)
