Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant Respiratory Physician to join the acclaimed Somerset Lung Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. Applications are invited for a fixed term Locum Consultant Respiratory Physician post commencing in October 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside a supportive team of eight experienced Respiratory Consultants within a service recognised for clinical excellence, teaching, research, innovation, and outstanding patient care. Serving a population of approximately 350,000 people across West Somerset, our respiratory service combines district general hospital medicine with many specialist services more commonly found in tertiary centres. The successful candidate will contribute to inpatient and outpatient respiratory services, respiratory ward care, acute medicine and multidisciplinary working. There will also be opportunities to develop specialist interests that complement existing services and support ongoing service development. The successful candidate will: • Deliver high-quality respiratory and acute medical care for inpatients and outpatients, • Participate in consultant-led ward rounds and specialist respiratory services, • Contribute to outpatient respiratory clinics and MDT activities, • Participate in the General Internal Medicine on-call rota, • Support education and training of junior doctors and multidisciplinary colleagues, • Participate in audit, governance, service development and quality improvement initiatives, • Contribute to ongoing development of respiratory services across Somerset. Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Geriatrician to provide maternity leave cover from February 2026 within the expanding Care of Older People team at Musgrove Park Hospital. The post offers a supportive, multidisciplinary environment with 17 consultant colleagues, strong links to community services, and opportunities to shape innovative models of frailty and older adult care. The role includes delivering specialist inpatient and outpatient geriatric medicine, contributing to front door frailty services, ortho geriatrics, dementia and delirium care, movement disorders, and liaison work with surgical, oncology, and cardiology teams. Teaching, clinical supervision, audit, and quality improvement are integral parts of the position, with additional SPA time available for educational roles. Subspecialty development is encouraged, particularly in frailty, dementia, heart failure, movement disorders, and surgical liaison. The Trust is recognised for outstanding patient care, excellent training, and a culture grounded in kindness, respect, and teamwork.
