The Role 1st Staff are looking for a Tutor to work with children with a range of SEN in the Havering area. The role will be to deliver sessions on a 1:1 basis to young people unable to attend mainstream education. The ideal candidate would have a caring and friendly nature allowing them to build a rapport with the young person. Educational Psychologist Location: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, DA6 7AT Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: 3+ Months Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week Pay Rate: £430.69 Per Hour Job Ref: OR23918 Job Responsibilities Provide psychological advice, assessment, and support for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, or mental health needs. Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, carers, and other professionals to support children’s development and educational outcomes. Contribute to multi-disciplinary teams, offering consultation, supervision, and professional guidance to colleagues. Advise on effective interventions and provision to meet developmental and learning needs. Undertake projects and tasks that improve service efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor and report on service delivery, ensuring standards meet the needs of schools, families, and children. Support training and professional development initiatives for staff, parents, and carers. Maintain professional knowledge, skills, and practice in line with legislation, Council policies, and service guidelines. Promote and ensure safeguarding and welfare of all service users at all times. Person Specification Must-Have Requirements Education and Qualifications Eligibility for registration as an Educational Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Good honours degree in Psychology. Postgraduate qualification (Masters or Doctoral level) recognised by the British Psychological Society and the Association of Educational Psychologists. Knowledge and Experience Experience working with children and young people, including those with SEN or additional social, emotional, and mental health needs. Experience collaborating successfully with other professionals to support children’s development. Knowledge of current approaches, tools, and techniques used in educational psychology. Understanding of relevant legislation affecting educational psychology practice. Skills and Abilities Self-motivated with a commitment to high professional standards. Effective time management and prioritisation skills. Ability to use supervision constructively to improve practice. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Competent in IT for management, administration, and reporting. Ability to manage a varied workload under pressure while maintaining sound professional judgement. Data handling and report writing skills. Personal Circumstances Satisfactory enhanced DBS check. Ability to travel within and outside the Borough, carrying necessary equipment. Nice-to-Have Requirements Experience contributing to projects or policy development. Car ownership and driving licence.
