This role involves supporting young people with their daily routines, independence skills, emotional wellbeing, safety, appointments and positive activities. You will work in line with individual support plans, pathway plans and risk assessments, while maintaining accurate records and following safeguarding procedures at all times. The successful candidate will already have experience working within the UK health and social care sector and will be confident supporting vulnerable individuals in a professional, person-centred and structured way. Essential Requirements Applicants must have: - A minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in the UK health and social care sector. - Relevant experience supporting vulnerable people in a care, support, residential, supported living or similar setting. - The right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship. - Availability to work full-time on a rota basis. - No restriction limiting working hours to 20 hours per week. - Good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries. - Strong communication and record-keeping skills. - The ability to remain calm, professional and reliable under pressure. The closing date is 01 September 2026 This is a 1-year fixed term locum consultant breast radiologist post to start as soon as possible from mid-August 2026. There is the potential for this to become a substantive position after 1 year. The successful applicant will join a dynamic team of 5 consultant breast radiologists and one consultant radiographer. The appointed candidate would be expected to support the One Stop Clinics as well as undertake mammography, breast MRI reporting and breast interventional procedures. These include pre-operative wire and seed localization as well as stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsy. Experience in vacuum assisted breast biopsy is highly desirable but not essential. The current job plan supports a full-time 10 PA substantive consultant post at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants should have broad experience in general radiology, with specialist interests in Breast Imaging. Competence in general CT and MRI reporting is essential, alongside the ability to contribute to relevant Breast Cancer MDTs, participate in hot reporting, and undertake duty radiologist sessions. It is anticipated that remote access will be available for all consultants to support home working, in line with the implementation of the regional RIS/PACS system. The successful candidate will participate in a diagnostic on-call rota with an approximate frequency of 1 in 18. Weekday on-call duties will be on-site from 17:00 to 20:00, supporting urgent imaging, hot reporting, and clinical queries. Weekend on-call commitments will be on-site from 08:00 to 17:00, contributing to acute service provision and maintaining timely reporting for urgent and emergency cases. Overnight CT reporting (20:00-08:00) is currently outsourced via an external provider (4Ways). However, the on-call radiologist will remain available from home overnight to provide clinical support for urgent imaging requirements, including ultrasound and other time-critical cases where radiologist input is required. • Provide a high-quality, timely, and accurate diagnostic radiology service across general cross-sectional imaging (CT and MRI)., • Direct impact on patient flow and clinical decision-making, particularly in breast cancer services (significant breaches in breast cancer pathway)., • Involvement in sustainable, high-quality breast reporting and diagnostics, • Participate in Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, including preparation, imaging review, and provision of expert radiological opinion., • Undertake hot reporting sessions to support acute and emergency care pathways, ensuring rapid turnaround of urgent imaging., • Contribute to the duty radiologist rota, providing clinical advice to referrers, vetting imaging requests, and supporting service flow., • Support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care, in line with Trust policies and Royal College of Radiologists standards., • Engage in service development and transformation initiatives, including optimisation of imaging pathways and adoption of new technologies (e.g. Breast imaging services)., • Contribute to the teaching and training of junior doctors, radiographers, and other healthcare professionals, including involvement in departmental educational activities., • Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit, quality improvement projects, incident review, and adherence to best practice guidelines., • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and reporting, ensuring compliance with medico-legal and professional standards., • Work collaboratively within the wider radiology team and across specialties to support efficient patient pathways and improve diagnostic performance., • Support and adapt to flexible working practices, including remote reporting, in line with the development of the regional RIS/PACS system., • Contribute to the on-call rota where required, depending on service needs., • Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) and remain up to date with advances in radiology practice, particularly in cardiac and neuro imaging., • GMC Specialist Register in Clinical Radiology (or within 6 months of CCT), • FRCR or equivalent, • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, • Higher postgraduate degree (MSc, PhD or equivalent), • Broad experience in general radiology with competence in CT and MRI reporting, • Experience contributing to Breast Cancer MDTs, • Experience in acute imaging, including hot reporting or equivalent service provision, • Experience in Mammography reporting, • Experience in Breast MRI reporting, • Experience in breast intervention, • Experience One Stop Clinics as well as undertake mammography, breast MRI reporting and breast interventional procedures, • Experience in service development, pathway redesign, or quality improvement initiatives, • Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality improvement principles, • Knowledge of clinical radiology practice and evidence-based imaging Familiarity with Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) standards and guidance, • Awareness of national targets and pathways (e.g. cancer pathways), • Knowledge of digital transformation in radiology, including RIS/PACS and AI applications, • Commitment to CPD and maintaining professional standards, • Flexible approach to working, including participation in on-call rota and remote reporting where appropriate, • Experience of working across multiple sites or within a networked radiology service, • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, • Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing clinical demands, • Competence in vetting imaging requests and providing clinical advice to referrers, • Proficient in IT systems including RIS/PACS and standard Microsoft applications, • Understanding of radiology workforce challenges, service delivery models, and demand/capacity pressures This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
