The opportunity:\n\nIn order to verify complex systems, you need reliable test solutions.\n\nThe role of the Test Equipment Definition team is to specify, deliver and support a variety of test equipment used throughout the development lifecycle of those complex systems, be it a manual switch box used for hardware testing, a fully-automated test solution to support high-rate manufacturing test, or a complex software-defined simulator developed to be used within a systems integration environment.\n\nThe TE definition team act as requirements authority for a wide variety of simulators, emulators and Test Equipment, designed to support programmes during their development, integration, qualification, manufacturing and through-life support phases.\n\nThis is a varied role, requiring strong systems engineering knowledge and an ability to co-ordinate and negotiate requirements with a number of disparate stakeholders. As a work package manager, you will also be responsible for acceptance of our test solutions from their manufacturer and delivery into programmes, and as such will have to balance cost, schedule and quality.\n\nMBDA is a large engineering organisation that takes a disciplined approach to product development and test in order to maintain our market leading reputation in Missiles and Missile Systems. Through our test and testability policy, we ensure robustness in the test and data analysis regime during the development, integration, manufacturing and in-service phases of our product lifecycles, and across an ever-increasing portfolio of projects.\n\n The Test Equipment and Testability team's mission is to: \nEstablish world-class Test Solutions, Environment Simulators and Emulators for use internally to MBDA as well as by our Customer's Armed Forces\nContribute to MBDA's international Weapon System Test Equipment Strategy, balancing the need for technology re-use with the need to exploit emerging technology trends\nApply the Weapon System Test Equipment and Testability Strategies to all new programmes, as well as through-life enhancement upgrades.If you have a practical mind and you are able to apply logic in challenging or complex situations, then this role could be for you. Candidates do not necessarily need to have an engineering test background to be successful in this role.\n\nWhat we're looking for from you:\n\nAs a Definition Lead, you should be able to demonstrate your ability to:\nDefine clear requirements and acceptance criteria\nDevelop and understand interface specifications\nUnderstand and contribute to the key activities in the engineering development lifecycle\nManage schedule, cost, quality and performance metrics for assigned work packages\nWork within a multi-discipline engineering team (e.g. Systems, mechanical, electrical, software etc...)\nUnderstand the benefits of re-use versus new development\nCapture transversal engineering stakeholder needs (e.g. Safety, Cyber, Human Factors, Customer Support Services, etc)In addition, as your knowledge and experience grows, you may be expected to:\nRun peer and design reviews\nLimit technical risks through application of mitigation strategies\nGrow your professional network through our multi-national defence organisationOur company: Peace is not a given, Freedom is not a given, Sovereignty is not a given\n\nMBDA is a leading defence organisation.
