Main Purpose: The Project Quality Control Engineer will undertake inspection activities and support the quality team to ensure all work complies with project standards and meets customer expectations. Key Responsibilities: • Engage with customers to thoroughly understand their quality assurance, control, and inspection requirements., • Review and approve supplier quality plans in line with project standards, obtaining customer approval for manufacturing documents such as Quality Control Plans (QCPs), weld schedules, and NDT procedures., • Participate in supply chain kick-off meetings to communicate quality expectations to all stakeholders., • Allocate inspection tasks efficiently to Inspectors., • Organise and conduct inspections, liaising with Customer Inspection personnel as necessary., • Perform risk assessments prior to inspection activities., • Inspect equipment and witness tasks including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and functional testing., • Review and endorse documentation throughout the contract lifecycle, including NDT reports, weld schedules, and EC&I test records., • Ensure inspection reports are submitted promptly and accurately., • Maintain concurrency and conduct final reviews of Life Time Records (data dossiers)., • Authorise the final release of procured items., • Advise on Quality Control and Inspection matters, identifying potential risks and issues., • Attend project meetings, contract reviews, and handover sessions., • Support quality planning by preparing project quality documents and drafting project-specific procedures and local work instructions, incorporating health, safety, and environmental considerations., • Collaborate closely with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure clear understanding of quality and specification requirements., • Ensure strict compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS) and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies at all times. Knowledge: • In-depth understanding of the Nuclear industry., • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation., • Familiarity with customer quality requirements., • Practical experience applying ISO 9001 standards., • Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes. Experience: • Completion of a manufacturing apprenticeship, supported by EITB NVQs., • Experience in manufacturing, assembling, and testing turnkey specialist assemblies., • Proven expertise with Quality Control Plans and Inspection & Test Plans., • Previous experience within Nuclear or similarly regulated industries, demonstrating proficiency in:, • Fabrication and welding techniques., • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods., • Mechanical inspection., • Assembly and testing procedures., • Reviewing material certification. Skills: • Clear, persuasive communication skills., • Flexible and adaptable approach to work., • Inquisitive mindset with a proactive, questioning attitude., • Customer-focused, both internally and externally., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team., • Proficient in relevant computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet applications., • Capable of producing accurate, timely reports and data., • Proactive in suggesting improvements to work practises, performance, and productivity., • Strong advocate for health and safety standards. Other Requirements: • Ideally qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline., • Weld inspection qualification – CSWIP 3.1 or PCL Level 2 (Weld Inspection)., • NDT qualifications are advantageous., • Auditor training is desirable., • Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.
