Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist - Havering Location: Havering, London Working Pattern: On-site Contract Type: Temporary / Ad-Hoc Pay Rate: £30-£50 per hour We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to support the London Borough of Havering. This role involves delivering high‑quality, specialist communication assessments for children undergoing the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) process. You will provide clear, outcome-driven advice for EHCPs and work closely with local schools, families, BCIT, and the SEN Assessment Team to support informed and robust decision‑making for children with SEND. Key Responsibilities Carry out statutory paediatric communication assessments as part of the EHCNA process. Produce timely, clear, and measurable recommendations for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Work collaboratively with schools, families, BCIT, SEN Assessment Teams, and wider Local Authority professionals. Contribute to annual reviews when required. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold all safeguarding responsibilities. Essential Requirements BSc/MSc in Speech and Language Therapy. HCPC registration (essential). At least 2 years' paediatric experience, ideally within education or community settings. Experience supporting children with SEND and contributing to EHCP processes. Strong clinical assessment, report writing, and communication skills. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. Professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Desirable RCSLT membership. Experience across early years, mainstream or specialist education settings. Knowledge of autism, developmental language disorder, AAC, and/or speech sound disorders. Experience delivering training to school staff or parents. Additional Information Flexible consultancy-based working. Travel to local schools and settings within Havering is required.
