A Leading Specialist is expanding its operations and seeking a highly skilled HIU & Plantroom Engineer to cover London and the South. This is a pivotal role offering the chance to take full technical ownership of communal heat networks across residential, student accommodation, and commercial portfolios, optimising network efficiency and plantroom lifecycle performance. The Opportunity: You will play a vital role in ensuring communal heat networks and central plantrooms operate at peak efficiency and regulatory compliance. Your day-to-day remit involves: Servicing, maintaining, fault-finding, and repairing heat interface units (HIUs) across key manufacturers (including Danfoss, SAV, and Evinox), covering plate heat exchangers, actuators, control valves, and heat meters. Commissioning and setting up new and replacement HIU installations, including system flushing, hydraulic balancing, and return-temperature optimisation. Executing planned and reactive maintenance across commercial plantrooms, servicing pumps, pressurisation units, buffer vessels, expansion vessels, and associated control systems. Diagnosing network distribution issues—such as bypass faults, high return temperatures, and low flow rates—while logging accurate digital compliance records and service sheets via mobile job management software. The Package: £42,000 – £46,000 basic salary, fully expensed company van with personal use allowance, fuel card, specialist tooling, PPE, and on-call/overtime enhancements. Technical Essentials: To be successful, you must demonstrate high-level technical proficiency: Mandatory: NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent recognized trade qualification); G3 Unvented Hot Water certificate held or committed to completing funded certification. Compliance/Systems: Strong working knowledge of CP1 (Heat Networks Code of Practice), Heat Trust standards, and G3 compliance frameworks; proficient with mobile CAFM/reporting applications. (WRAS, Legionella awareness, or TMV servicing certifications advantageous). Experience: Proven field track record in commercial plantroom servicing, hydraulic wet heating systems, heating controls, and direct HIU diagnostic/repair work.
