Contract: PermanentSalary: Offering a salary up to £36,000 per annum depending on skills and experienceWe are currently looking for a Network Engineer to join our team at Thames Water. This role will be field-based, and you will be expected to work and travel within the Thames Valley area, van, tools and PPE provided. You will be overseeing our contractors and ensuring they are working safely and efficiently. Working alongside them to resolve defects on our sewer network. This role provides an interesting working environment as no day or job is the same. You will be required to liaise with the environment agency, councils, and customers. This role will suit someone self-motivated, has strong interpersonal skills, and enjoys the responsibility of making quick, accurate assessments and decisions whilst on site. Due to the nature of this role and the area you will be covering, you can be based, at several Sewage Treatment works sites depending on your location. • Base Location: Reading (STW) - RG2 0RP, Swindon - SN2 2DJ or Banbury - OX16 4RZ, Depending on your location., • Working Pattern or hours: 38 Hours per week, plus the inclusion on an on-standby Rota for which you will receive additional payment. What you’ll be doing as the Field Network Engineer, • The day-to-day operation of the waste network includes the resolution of sewer collapses, blockages, flooding of customers’ homes, and pollution to watercourses., • Taking personal ownership of customer issues, i.e. responding to queries, complaints, and resolving issues., • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards during repairs., • Acting as a local network expert, providing information for risk assessments and sharing information regarding network risks and other health and safety issues., • Attending meetings with customers, councils, and the Environment Agency to discuss how our business can support them., • Providing critical on-site information to support the wider Operations team., • Supervising contractors to ensure that they are working safely and adhering to company policies & procedures. The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:, • Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them, you need to be very disciplined, have the desire to learn from those around you and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too., • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time., • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team., • Teamwork – We are one team, and our end goals are the same., • Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively., • Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures., • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards., • Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is essential.
