Senior Theatre Practitioner – Orthopaedic Location: Northwood 37.5 Hours | Permanent Salary: Up to £43,000 per year (dependent on experience, training, and qualifications) Role Overview We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Theatre Practitioner with a specialism in Orthopaedics to join a high-performing theatre team within a well-established independent healthcare provider. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner looking to take on a senior role, combining clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities in a modern and supportive theatre environment. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and manage specialist orthopaedic instrumentation and equipment, including power tools, implants, and navigation systems, in line with surgical protocols, • Provide expert support to surgical and anaesthetic teams, anticipating requirements and responding effectively to intraoperative changes, • Take a lead role in theatre preparation, coordinating surgical lists and ensuring appropriate staffing, equipment, and resources are in place, • Support the Theatre Manager with team coordination, briefings, scheduling, stock control, and patient flow, • Supervise and support junior theatre practitioners, ODPs, and healthcare assistants, providing guidance and clinical oversight, • Identify, escalate, and contribute to the management of clinical and operational risks, including participation in audits and incident reviews, • Work collaboratively with consultants, anaesthetists, recovery teams, and ward staff to ensure continuity of care and an excellent patient experience Requirements • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC), • Significant perioperative experience with a strong focus on orthopaedic surgery, • Proven experience supporting a wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including complex cases, • Previous experience in a senior or team lead role within a theatre setting, • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, • Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance, infection prevention, and patient safety, • Orthopaedic experience is essential Benefits • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service, • Private pension scheme, • Private healthcare, including cover for pre-existing conditions, • Discounted hospital services for friends and family, • Enhanced family-friendly policies, • Life assurance, • Access to a wide range of employee discounts and benefits, • Wellbeing support services and resources, • Structured training and development opportunities
