Payroll & Benefits Adviser\n\nCompetitive | Full-time | Permanent | London\n\nA leading educational foundation is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Adviser to join its established HR & Payroll function. This is a key role supporting the delivery of accurate, compliant and high‑quality payroll services across multiple payrolls, while deputising for the Payroll Manager and taking ownership of the monthly payroll for c.200 employees.\n\nThis position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, professional environment where accuracy, integrity and strong stakeholder relationships are essential.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will play a central part in ensuring the smooth running of monthly payrolls and benefits administration across the organisation. Acting as the Payroll Manager's deputy, you will take responsibility for the end‑to‑end payroll cycle for one of the organisation's core payrolls, while supporting wider payroll operations and statutory reporting.\n\nKey responsibilities include:\n\nEnd-to-end monthly payroll processing for c.200 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.\nSupporting multiple Foundation payrolls, working closely with the Payroll Manager.\nManaging sickness absence processing and reporting, ensuring accurate data capture and statutory compliance.\nAdministering pension schemes, including salary sacrifice arrangements and employee enrolment support.\nResponding to payroll and pension queries, providing clear guidance to employees and managers.\nProducing monthly payroll reports, headcount data, reconciliations and management information.\nSupporting statutory submissions, including gender pay gap and ONS reporting.\nCoordinating staff benefits, such as healthcare and cash plan schemes.\nWorking in partnership with HR, ensuring data accuracy and seamless integration between HR and payroll systems. \n\nAbout You\n\nYou will be an experienced payroll professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to deputise for a Payroll Manager when required.\n\nEssential experience:\n\nProven experience running end-to-end UK payrolls.\nStrong understanding of payroll legislation, statutory payments and HMRC processes.\nExperience using multiple HR and payroll systems.\nConfident with Excel and reporting tools.\nKnowledge of pensions, salary sacrifice and benefits administration.\nAbility to manage deadlines, solve problems and communicate effectively across teams. \n\nDesirable experience:\n\nExposure to salary sacrifice pension schemes.\nExperience within multi‑payroll or multi‑entity environments.\nFamiliarity with systems such as Oasis, iTrent, or Business Objects. \n\nPersonal Attributes\n\nHigh levels of integrity and discretion.\nCalm, resilient and able to work under pressure.\nCollaborative, approachable and confident building strong internal relationships.\nDetail‑driven with excellent organisational skills. \n\n51577JM\n\nINDPAYS\n\nThe Portfolio Group are acting on behalf of our client in recruiting for this position
