Fairfield School of Business (FSB), an OFS registered private higher education provider founded in 2006 with campuses in London, Birmingham, Leicester and Luton. We provide industry-relevant qualifications in business and healthcare management, in partnership with leading UK universities. The post of Course Leader is a primary part of the academic department ensuring the lead and development of the school and its students of all aspects within the student centres. To be responsible for the management and coordination of academic and pastoral support for all students enrolled onto the Programme(s) through the coordination and completion of Personal Development Plans. To liaise closely with Team Leaders and Course Coordinators to ensure that curriculum is appropriately developed and delivered within and across years of study and that assessment is rigorous, relevant and exciting for the learner. To develop employer, corporate and community links that enhance the learner experience, bring value to the School and help to promote the Programme to appropriate external audiences. To fully engage with the Schools quality management and committee structures including liaison with External Examiners, awarding bodies, and the coordination and production of the Programme and Module annual reports, agreeing development plans and monitoring action. To work closely with the Registry and HR teams to agree an annual and term-based timetable that best reflects Programme and student interests within the constraints of available resources. To be responsible for the management of physical and teaching resources allocated to the Programme area and to make recommendations for future requirements. To manage the performance of staff within the subject field, as appropriate, through the matrix line management structure of the Faculty and to contribute to the annual appraisal of staff. To be responsible for the monitoring and improvement for the academic and organisational performance (e.g. attendance) of all students on the Programme, and manage student complaints and conduct student disciplinary as appropriate. To be responsible for all the marketing and promotional activity related to the Programme area, including the generation of materials for the prospectus, student handbook, and open days. To establish and maintain appropriate dialogues and relationships with the subject community and its audiences, nationally and internationally, continually updating the Schools knowledge of academic developments, subject and skills and relevant industrial and technological developments for the benefit of the Programme area, its staff and students. Excellent knowledge and experience of Microsoft (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, & Access). Good interpersonal skills and experience of communicating effectively with staff and students. Understanding of the issues involved in successfully integrating high-quality teaching, business development activities within an academic setting. The ability to direct the development of the subjects/disciplines represented in the Business Department. This will be a combination of a personal academic record of significant achievements, relevant experience at a senior level inside higher education and knowledge of the Business Department. Fairfield School of Business (FSB) is an OfS-registered higher education provider with four leaning facilities located in economic centres across England. We work with communities and employers to offer a high quality, enriching academic experiences that lead to genuine professional advancement. Foremostly a specialist provider in business and management, FSB is opening new lines of provision in subject areas aligned to regional interests, such as counselling, criminology and computer science. We are recruiting academic governors to serve on FSBs Academic Board to ensure effective oversight of higher education delivery and academic quality. Candidates will have verifiable academic and/or commercial expertise in any subject areas where FSB promotes its education, and will be expected to robustly challenge assurances from the senior academic and programme management teams. This will include: critically reviewing FSBs frameworks for securing and maintaining academic standards in line with sector-recognised standards, providing an external perspective on the comparability FSBs taught higher education programmes with UK sector standards and practices, appraising FSBs pedagogic approaches and strategies for supporting students to successfully complete their degree courses, critically appraising the Schools plans for widening access and participation, considering appropriate responses to concerns and opinions raised by students (individually and collectively), Presently, FSB delivers degree programmes under sub contractual arrangements with UK universities, however the School is in the process of application for New Degree Awarding Powers (DAPs). Academic governorship would involve appraising FSBs preparedness for DAPs and its academic quality framework for the design and development of FSBs own awards. As an academic governor of FSB, you will be and accomplished academic and researcher and hold, or have held a senior academic position at a recognised university or other higher education institution (e.g., Dean, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, or Head of Department). You will meet fit and proper requirements applicable to academic governors and be available to attend three to four meetings a year, for which reasonable prior notice will be given. Candidates must: be conversant with UK HE quality assurance mechanisms, including the OfS Regulatory Framework, and external examining procedures, be experienced in interpreting and challenging complex academic performance metrics (e.g., NSS, TEF data, degree classification profiles, student demographic data), demonstrate commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and the reduction of awarding/access gaps, hold, or be actively working towards Advance HE Fellowship, disclose conflicts of interest (particularly academic conflicts with competitor institutions) in line with the FSBs Conflicts of Interest Policy. We are an OfS-registered organisation and as such are fully committed to public interest governance and committee effectiveness. We are seeking individuals from the business and management sector who are interested in becoming an Independent (External) Members of our Board of Governors. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with senior executive and/or non-executive experience in medium sized organisations and/or the private education sector. Bringing knowledge and experience in audit or legal would be helpful but is not essential. Our Governors contribute at the highest levels, utilising their professional expertise to support, question, and advise the senior leadership of FSB on matter of fundamental concern to its sustainability and success. Governors would also use the benefit of their personal and professional networks to keep FSB well appraised of the pollical and regulatory environment that providers like FSB operate within. As a Governor of FSB, you will be person of good character who is passionate about the mission of education and governments widening access and participation agenda for higher education. You will be expected to attend and contribute to meetings of the FSB Board and at least one Board Subcommittee which requires the presence of an external member. The board meets four times per year and Governors also have the opportunity to engage with our students and staff and be part of some of the exciting events in our academic calendar. You will be joining us during an exiting phase of growth and organisational development, as we finalize our Strategic Plan for the coming years.
