Apply now to join our dedicated team at Epsom and St Helier Hospitals. • Provide anaesthetic services across multiple specialties at STH, EGH, and QMH sites., • Manage airway and airway emergencies, including advanced airway management., • Lead resuscitation teams and ensure the safe transfer of critically ill patients., • Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives., • Contribute to education and training programmes as a sessional supervisor. Both sites provide emergency departments and obstetric services. In the year 2023/24, the department delivered anaesthetic services to approximately 13,500 elective surgeries, 3,500 emergency surgeries, and 4,000 deliveries, with a caesarean rate of 42%, 20% elective. The Clinical Director leads the clinical governance process for CCATP and is responsible for governance of the anaesthetic department. • Full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council., • Minimum of 12 years of medical experience since primary medical qualification., • Minimum of 6 years as SAS grade or equivalent in anaesthesia., • Demonstrated ability to provide safe and effective immediate care for critically ill patients of all ages., • Broad range of experience of anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgery for patients of all ages., • Advanced airway management skills., • Demonstrated ability to manage patients with complex needs whilst remaining aware of own limitations., • Ability to lead resuscitation teams and safely transfer critically ill patients., • Effective communication with patients, relatives and carers, placing them at the centre of the care pathway., • Previous experience working in the NHS., • Ability to lead diverse teams within all areas of the hospital., • Understands own leadership style and its impact on others., • Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships across teams, contributing to their successful working., • Demonstrates ability to challenge others and escalating concerns when necessary., • Critically reflects on decision‑making and explains them effectively to others., • Undertaken training in management and/or teamworking., • Takes prompt action to ensure a high standard of safety and quality of patient care., • Ability to collaborate with hospital teams to manage risk., • Active and consistent engagement with local quality improvement projects., • Participates in regional or national quality improvement projects., • Implements evidence‑based change to improve patient care., • Undertaken training in quality improvement methodology., • Meets the requirements of a sessional supervisor, as defined by the RCOA., • Evaluates, reflects and acts on the effectiveness of education and learning., • Meets the requirements of a Clinical/Educational Supervisor, as defined by the GMC.
