In this role, you will play a vital part in crafting delicious cakes, pastries, and börek that bring joy to our customers' day. Responsibilities: Prepare and bake a variety of cakes, pastries, and borek according to established recipes and quality standards, including cheesecake, red velvet cake, banana bread, and more. Arrive promptly at 7:00 am to begin preparations, ensuring that products are ready for sale by 8:30 am. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the cafe manager to determine the baking schedule for mass cooking batches. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Provide friendly and efficient customer service during your shift, treating patrons with the same warmth and care as you would your own family. Assist with other duties as assigned, pitching in wherever needed to ensure the smooth operation of our family business. Qualifications: Previous experience working as a pastry chef or baker, preferably in a cafe or similar setting. Proficiency in baking a variety of cakes, pastries, and börek, with the ability to follow recipes and adapt batch sizes as needed. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards. Flexibility to work part-time hours between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm, with the potential for additional hours as needed. We’re looking for a new baker to join the team. We are a small (approx 4), very hard-working and communicative team , and the bakery is in Bermondsey. The job: Part Time (3-4 days) Tuesdays 10-5 - with 1 hour unpaid break Thursdays 10-5 - with 1 hour unpaid break Saturdays 8-2 - with 1 hour unpaid break Some Fridays 10-5 - with 1 hour unpaid break (week days may be negotiable) Key Requirements: - 3+ years experience in commercial kitchen environments - Pragmatic and efficient - Flexible, problem solving and common sense - Responsible, sensible and very reliable - Fluent in English (spoken and written) - Detail-orientated and quality-obsessed - Attention to cleanliness and hygeine The role will involve: - Baking granola and other cereals according to recipes and release criteria - Packaging products to specifications - Cleaning and washing up - Adhering to hygiene standards and stock management of ingredients to enable ordering.
