Within IDG, the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) team ensures reliable, secure, and high-performing IT systems and networks, supporting teaching, research, and administration across campus. Overview: Join our Network team and kick-start your career in IT! You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience in maintaining and improving the University’s network services. Key responsibilities include: • Assisting with network support and troubleshooting., • Supporting maintenance tasks such as switch configuration, patch/cable management, and equipment testing., • Monitoring network performance and availability., • Helping with planned upgrades and hardware replacements., • Recording and closing incidents following established processes., • Demonstrable IT skills gained through a formal role, education, or hobby., • Experience working in a team to deliver high-quality services., • Experience providing advice and guidance to customers and colleagues., • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines., • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and ability to build effective relationships., • Strong digital competence (Microsoft 365, email, internet)., • Ability to solve problems independently and as part of a team., • Knowledge of health and safety issues., • Ability to participate in networks to share good practice and exchange information., • Enthusiastic and motivated learner., • Team player with flexibility and adaptability., • Calm under pressure with attention to detail., • Willingness to learn new technologies., • an A-Level in ICT, • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT, • OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
