Senior Mechanical Engineer Port Talbot | Full Time - Days Only Salary: £55,000 Rhino Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing client based in Port Talbot. Our client is a highly successful manufacturing business that has operated from its South Wales facility since 1993 and continues to experience steady and sustained growth. Part of an international group with operations across Europe, the company manufactures aluminium aerosol containers used within the personal care, healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors from a modern, state-of-the-art production facility. Due to continued growth and a commitment to operational excellence, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team. Benefits • Workplace pension, • Employee Assistance Programme, • Eyecare vouchers, • Cycle to Work Scheme, • Enhanced maternity pay, • Enhanced paternity pay and leave, • Additional employee benefits Key Responsibilities • Planning and carrying out scheduled maintenance activities, • Assisting with machinery breakdowns, including out-of-hours support where required, • Supporting and promoting maintenance systems and procedures, • Maintaining maintenance records, reports and software systems, • Ensuring compliance with all health and safety legislation, • Supervising Shift Engineers, Apprentices and Contractors, • Participating in machinery and process improvement initiatives, • Conducting root cause analysis on equipment failures, • Providing shift cover during periods of absence or sickness, • Producing CAD drawings when required Requirements Essential • Previous experience within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment, • Experience responding to mechanical breakdowns, • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, • Hands-on engineering approach, • Good workload management and organisational skills, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Machining and welding experience, • Good computer literacy, • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A–C including English, Mathematics and Science Desirable • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, • Experience within a BRC-certified environment, • Previous team leadership or supervisory experience About You The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive and capable of thriving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will have a strong mechanical engineering background, excellent fault-finding ability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
