I’m currently looking for compassionate, reliable, and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to support a variety of primary schools across the Wakefield area. About the Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with pupils who require additional support due to special educational needs or disabilities. You’ll play a key role in helping children feel understood, valued, and capable - both inside and outside the classroom. Your work will be varied, meaningful, and absolutely vital to each child’s progress. Your responsibilities may include: • Providing tailored one-to-one or small-group support, • Supporting children with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social and emotional needs, and learning delays, • Helping pupils regulate emotions, develop social skills, and build confidence, • Implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans, • Assisting teachers with adapting lessons and resources to suit individual needs, • Using strategies such as visual aids, sensory tools, and alternative communication methods, • Helping maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment, • Have experience working with children with SEND (school-based experience is ideal but not essential), • Are patient, empathetic, and consistent in your approach, • Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenges, • Understand (or are willing to learn about) different SEND needs and supportive strategies, • Communicate clearly and work well within a team, • Competitive pay that reflects your experience and skill set, • Access to specialist training and development opportunities, • Ongoing support from an experienced and approachable team, • Flexible working options to suit your lifestyle, • Wellbeing support, including access to an Employee Assistance Programme If you’re passionate about SEND support and ready to make a meaningful impact in Wakefield schools, I’d really like to hear from you.
