Description Systems Engineer Location: Whiteley/Hybrid/Occasional travel to site will be required Clearance Requirements: Current SC clearance, or the ability to gain SC clearance. We are looking to recruit an experience Systems Engineer to support the development of an ATM system. This is an opportunity to work on an exciting programme delivering critical services and infrastructure key to the future of UK Air Traffic Management. The successful candidate does not need to be familiar with ATM (although it would be an advantage) as on-the-job training will be provided as required. The systems engineer will work in a rapidly changing environment, delivering solutions and deliverables of a high quality to wide range of challenging problems. They will work as part of an agile team performing all aspects of systems engineering throughout the development life cycle to meet sprint milestones. The successful candidate will have a full understanding of the principles of systems engineering, will have prior experience as a Systems Engineer on a major programme involving accepting and integrating deliveries from suppliers. Using their experience in Systems Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for working with customers and suppliers to execute Systems Engineering activities across the full lifecycle, with specific focus on Model Based Systems Engineering. Required Skills: • Strong experience with architecture modelling tools (e.g. Sparx Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw Cameo), • Strong experience with Architecture Modelling Frameworks and Languages (e.g. TOGAF, MODAF, NAF, SysML, Archimate), • Success in working within large-scale, mission critical and complex integration programmes, • Ability to work with a number of stakeholders and suppliers, working across organizational boundaries as appropriate, • Experience of developing system behavioural diagrams, modelling interfaces and developing models to encapsulate functional requirements, • Demonstrable successes within the System Engineering environment, • Excellent customer facing skills, including being able to ingest large volumes of requirements and information developing clear understanding of customer hot-buttons and needs, • Demonstrable knowledge and cognisance of adjacent disciplines, including programme management, customer relationship management, supplier management and service management, • In-depth experience of conducting detailed systems engineering trade solutions to assess options & feasibility, and define optimal solutions, • Strong knowledge of requirements and user scenario development in both text based and model based approaches, • Understanding designing / delivering systems in a Virtualised Environment, • Experience of working with Service Oriented Architectures Desired Skills: • ITIL including Service Management Roles & Processes, • Knowledge of Air Traffic Management or other safety related systems, • Experience of service management, assurance and regulation requirements and how they apply across functional boundaries, • Willingness to offer fresh, innovative ideas and/or unconventional approaches, • Ability to deliver clear messages through dialogue, written work and formal presentation What we do for you: At Leidos we are PASSIONATE about customer success, UNITED as a team and INSPIRED to make a difference. Description Chief Engineer - Systems - Air Traffic Control Location: This is a Hybrid role. Whiteley, Hampshire with travel to customer sites across the South of England. We are looking to recruit an experienced Chief Engineer who understands the challenges of a heavily regulated industry, preferably safety-related, and experience in technologies and protocols similar to Token Ring, ADA. With a focus on delivery and operation, the Chief Engineer contributes to the development of solutions that influence strategic project/programme goals and business results. They have thorough understanding of advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts, they recommend and collaborate in the development of new technical solutions and/or standards in support of strategy and operations. We expect a great deal from our senior engineers with no two days being the same. The successful candidate will be a natural self-starter and team motivator who will guide the technical team to deliver upon Leidos commitments. They are a leader and champion in technical delivery with the experience to back up their decisions and actions, preferably hands on at a high level. You will work with field leading subject matter experts who will provide detailed designs and with supporting functions within the division such as programme management, business, financial and senior leadership. Core skills and behaviours: • Drives the team towards delivery by shaping and encouraging the team to achieve outcomes, • Significant experience in delivery of complex technical deliverables, preferably in Air Traffic Management using a diverse engineering and technology team, • Significant experience in breaking down technical deliveries into manageable and trackable parts., • Experience in lifecycle methodologies, technical governance and technical solutions., • Experience of technical business analysis or systems engineering, including requirements management and Model-Based Systems Engineering., • Experience of large-scale integrations, service orientated architecture and key technologies., • Keen technical advocate and self-learner up to date with the latest technology and innovations; encourages and inspires those around them., • Proven experience leading complex, multi‑disciplinary engineering programmes with significant technical and business impact, • Strong background in systems engineering, including requirements analysis, requirements management, and technical assurance, • Experience providing technical leadership and governance, guiding engineering teams and influencing senior stakeholders, • Demonstrable expertise in systems integration and systems architecture, including large‑scale or safety‑critical environments, • Ability to decompose complex technical problems into manageable, measurable delivery plans, • Experience across the full engineering lifecycle, including lifecycle cost analysis, performance analysis, and trade studies, • Advanced capability in modelling, simulation, and evidence‑based technical decision‑making, • Strong understanding of data and information architectures and their role in system performance and delivery, • Ownership of configuration management, risk management, and technical compliance, • Excellent stakeholder management, with the credibility to challenge, influence, and advise at senior levels, • A recognised technical authority who mentors engineers and sets the standard for technical excellence, • Tools & Professional Practice, • Microsoft Office suite, with advanced use of Excel for analysis and reporting, • Microsoft Visio for system, architecture, and process modelling Key items: • Experience in leading the delivery of complex IT systems, • Knowledge of current ATM systems and future direction of the industry, • Systems engineering management The role will be a Hybrid position, 1-2 days a week onsite with additional visits to customer sites which are essential.
