The Role Were looking for a Maintenance Plant Fitter (Mechanical) to join our Engineering team at Halecombe Quarry and Asphalt Plant. Reporting to the Section Manager, youll play a key role in keeping our production assets safe, reliable and efficient across both quarry and asphalt operations. Key responsibilities include: Responding to mechanical breakdowns and restoring plant to production quickly and safely Carrying out emergency and planned maintenance on all production equipment Supporting preventative maintenance planning and shutdown activities Welding and fabrication to a good standard Diagnosing faults, carrying out root cause analysis and preventing repeat failures Owning small improvement projects and seeing them through to completion Coordinating contractors and managing on site works safely Using the CMMS to record work, faults and spares used Promoting and challenging standards around Health, Safety and Environment About You Youll be a self motivated mechanical fitter with experience in an industrial or heavy plant environment, confident working with minimal supervision. Youll ideally have: A recognised mechanical apprenticeship (higher level preferred) ONC / HNC (desirable, not essential) Strong hands on experience with heavy mechanical systems including: Conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes Crushers, screens and drive systems Proven fault finding and breakdown repair capability Experience removing and fitting bearings A strong understanding of SHE risks and safe working practices Why Tarmac We don't just offer a job, we offer a career. About you You will need to have previous experience of working within a care environment, preferably within Adult social care and you will have an NVQ Level 2 Care qualification or equivalent and a willingness to work towards Level 3. You will be able to evidence good standard of general education including basic literacy and numeracy skills and will have good IT skills in order to be able to update electronic data and case records. The role is based in March but involves travel across Cambridgeshire, using CCC pool vehicles which are manual drive so you will need to have a full driving licence applicable to manual vehicles. The post we have available is for 18 hours per week - based at Hereward Hall, March The hours advertised are for a set rota which includes morning, evening and weekend shifts and working every other weekend and we are therefore unable to accommodate specific days of availability. Please see attached shift pattern. The induction training is covered in your first 4 weeks of employment and will include training days with your Line Manager and shadowing members of the ERS team.
