    Join our team as a Horticultural Activity Coordinator, providing crucial maternity cover for a 9-month fixed-term contract. In this rewarding role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the quality of life for service users within our day service by designing and implementing engaging gardening and horticultural activities. Your compassionate approach and excellent communication skills will foster a nurturing environment, promoting physical activity, sensory stimulation, and social interaction through therapeutic horticultural programmes. Some ad-hoc activities not involving horticulture are also likely. Key Responsibilities: • Plan, organise, and lead a diverse range of horticultural activities, thoughtfully adapted to meet the varied needs of our service users., • Collaborate effectively with staff to seamlessly integrate horticultural activities into individualised care plans., • Maintain safe and accessible gardening spaces, ensuring all equipment and plant selections are suitable for service user engagement., • Actively encourage service users to participate in all aspects of gardening, including planting, watering, and harvesting, thereby promoting physical movement and mental engagement., • Monitor service users' responses and progress, adjusting programmes as necessary to optimise their engagement and overall well-being., • Champion the therapeutic benefits of horticulture, utilising it as a powerful tool for cognitive stimulation and emotional comfort within our day service., • Undertake ad-hoc duties as required to support the smooth running of the service. What We Are Looking For: • Extensive knowledge of and genuine passion for horticulture, coupled with a commitment to creating meaningful activity programmes that enhance service users' lives., • Strong communication skills, enabling effective interaction with service users, their families, and team members., • Previous experience in caregiving or care settings is highly desirable., • The ability to organise activities independently while thriving in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.     Location: Cobham Hours: 16–42 hours per week (rota-based, including evenings, weekends & sleep-ins) Reporting to: Registered Manager / Deputy Manager / Senior Care Practitioner About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, committed Care Practitioner to join our children’s residential home, supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). You will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children can feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential. This role is central to delivering high-quality, child-centred care in line with Ofsted regulations, the Children Act 1989, and Every Child Matters. Key Responsibilities As a Care Practitioner, you will: • Provide high-quality physical, emotional, social, and cultural care tailored to each child’s individual needs, • Promote independence and life skills such as communication, self-care, cooking, and daily routines, • Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent, positive role model, • Support children through challenging behaviours using calm, trauma-informed approaches, • Safeguard children at all times and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment, • Monitor health, wellbeing, behaviour, and development, reporting concerns appropriately, • Assist with medication administration in line with policies and training, • Support education, leisure, and community-based activities, • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports, reviews, and care planning meetings, • Advocate for children and actively involve them in decisions about their lives and futures, • Work collaboratively with families, social workers, teachers, and other professionals Working as Part of a Team You will be expected to: • Contribute positively to team meetings, supervision, and appraisals, • Work consistently with colleagues to implement care plans, • Support team development and provide informal support to colleagues when needed, • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and the home’s Statement of Purpose, • Uphold professional standards, including whistleblowing responsibilities Personal Development We are committed to your growth and development. You will: • Receive a full induction and ongoing training, • Attend mandatory and in-house training sessions, • Be supported through supervision and appraisal processes, • Be encouraged to work towards relevant qualifications Requirements • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in childcare, health & social care, education, or similar is desirable, or a willingness to work towards a Level 3/4 Diploma, • Experience: Experience working with children or young people is beneficial, • Flexibility: Ability to work shifts including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in duties, • Safeguarding: Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to obtain one) Skills & Qualities • Caring, patient, empathetic, and resilient, • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, • Ability to work effectively within a team, • Understanding of child development and safeguarding, • Calm and confident in managing behaviours of concern Additional Information This role requires flexibility to meet the needs of the home, including occasional rota changes and undertaking additional duties such as light maintenance or gardening where appropriate. Any changes to circumstances affecting DBS clearance must be reported immediately. We are currently unable to support sponsorship.
