Job Title: Assistant Engineering Manager Salary: up to £53,000 per annum dependent upon experience Location: New Malden (hybrid) We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as an Assistant Engineering Manager. The Assistant Engineering Manager will support the Engineering Manager and Technical Authority to ensure the efficient and robust delivery of the Engineering scope, including involvement in the unique project governance model, which steers the product development. The project is a critical delivery into both the T26 Build Programme and the RECODE In-Service Technical Refresh Programme and encompasses both hardware and software obsolescence updates. The Assistant Engineering Manager will support the Engineering Manager and Technical Authority to ensure the efficient and robust delivery of the Engineering scope, including involvement in the unique project governance model, which steers the product development. The Assistant Engineering Manager is a key member of the team and supports the team in ensuring that the solution produced provides the appropriate level of assurance, reliability, and performance characteristics required to achieve the project aims. Main Responsibilities: • Supporting the Technical Authority and Engineering Manager in the management of Project Engineering activities, including providing help and direction on the overall project delivery;, • Managing the planning of Engineering tasks, both within the Project and feeding into the Product level planning;, • Identifying, assessing and managing risks to the success of the project;, • Supporting interactions with the Project Technical Council and complex stakeholder network;, • Preparing for and supporting design review assessments of the Project Benefits: • Enhanced Pension scheme- up to 14% combined, • Flexible working pattern including working from home/ flexible start and finish times, • 25 holiday days plus bank holidays- 26 days after 5 years’ service/ 27 days after 10 years’ service, • Early finish on Fridays, • Shared Incentive Plan, • Employee Assistance Programme, • Cycle to Work Scheme, • Life Assurance (you and your spouse/ partner)- 6 x salary, • Ill Health Income Protection/ Private Medical Insurance- 50% of salary About You: • Experience in systems or software engineering delivery with strong knowledge of Engineering governance processes, • The ability to manage complex technical issues and make engineering judgements with support from subject matter experts, • Good problem-solving skills for routine or moderate complexity situations, • A good understanding of stakeholder management and how it can be applied to the benefit of the Project, • All engineers should hold a relevant engineering or STEM qualification along with appropriate academic or professional credentials, be supported to achieve Incorporated or Chartered status through a recognised institution, and candidates who are already professionally registered will be preferred.
