The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles to ensure optimal safety and operational efficiency. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, seeking to work within a dynamic and professional environment. Duties Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify faults or potential issues Perform repairs and maintenance on various vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, and electrical components Utilise hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to carry out repairs effectively Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical problems Carry out welding, soldering, and fabrication tasks as required for vehicle repairs or modifications Assemble replacement parts or components with precision to ensure proper fitment and function Maintain detailed records of all work carried out in accordance with company procedures Assist with the repair or operation of auxiliary equipment such as excavators or forklifts when necessary Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair Proficiency in reading schematics and technical diagrams related to electrical systems Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication, and the use of hand tools and power tools Experience with equipment repair including excavators, forklifts, or similar machinery is advantageous Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs Excellent customer service skills when liaising with clients regarding vehicle issues or repairs Organised approach to maintenance schedules and record keeping Good problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose faults efficiently Prior experience working with electrical systems within heavy vehicles is desirable This role offers a rewarding career path for those passionate about vehicle maintenance and repair.
