Job Summary: Noovo is seeking a hands-on Cost Accountant to support manufacturing cost accounting, standard cost maintenance, inventory accuracy, production variance analysis, and ERP costing discipline. This is not a traditional corporate accounting or controller role. The right candidate will spend meaningful time on-site with production, purchasing, inventory, and operations teams to understand how vehicles are actually built, how materials and labor flow through the production process, and how those activities should be reflected in the ERP and cost accounting records. The Cost Accountant will serve as a bridge between the day-to-day production environment and the financial cost calculations in the ERP system. This person will help ensure that bills of materials, labor assumptions, standard costs, inventory movements, WIP, and finished goods costs accurately reflect operational reality. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, operationally curious, and comfortable working in a growing manufacturing business where processes are still evolving. They should be well-versed in standard costing and cost accounting methodologies, while also being willing to walk the plant floor, ask questions, validate data, and partner with production teams to improve accuracy. Key Responsibilities: Standard Costing & Product Costing • Maintain and support standard costs for materials, labor, overhead, and finished goods., • Partner with production, purchasing, engineering, and operations teams to ensure product costs reflect, • actual manufacturing processes., • Review and analyze bills of materials, routings, labor assumptions, overhead rates, and cost rollups., • Support periodic standard cost updates and analyze the financial impact of cost changes., • Identify gaps between ERP cost assumptions and actual production-floor activity., • Help improve the accuracy of vehicle-level and product-line profitability reporting. Manufacturing Variance Analysis: • Analyze manufacturing variances, including material usage, purchase price, labor efficiency, labor rate,, • overhead, scrap, and rework., • Investigate significant variances by working directly with plant operations and production leaders., • Translate production activity into clear financial insights for management., • Help identify root causes of cost variances and recommend process or data improvements., • Support margin analysis by vehicle model, build type, option package, or production category. Inventory, WIP & Finished Goods Accounting: • Support accurate inventory valuation, WIP tracking, and finished goods costing., • Reconcile inventory activity between physical movement, ERP records, and accounting records., • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory counts, and variance resolution., • Monitor inventory adjustments, scrap, obsolete inventory, and cost accuracy., • Help ensure inventory transactions are recorded timely and correctly in the ERP., • Partner with warehouse, purchasing, and production teams to improve inventory discipline. ERP Costing & Production Data Integrity: • Serve as a key finance partner for ERP costing accuracy., • Review production transactions, inventory movements, job costing data, BOMs, routings, and work order, • activity for completeness and accuracy., • Help ensure production-line activity is properly captured in the ERP system., • Identify ERP process gaps that create inaccurate cost, WIP, inventory, or margin reporting., • Work cross-functionally to improve ERP workflows between purchasing, receiving, production, inventory,, • and finance., • Support the development of scalable cost accounting processes as the company grows. Operations Partnership: • Spend time on the production floor to understand manufacturing workflows, material usage, labor inputs,, • and operational constraints., • Build strong working relationships with plant leadership, production supervisors, purchasing, inventory,, • and finance., • Support production and operations leaders with cost visibility, reporting, and decision support., • Help create accountability around accurate data entry, inventory movement, and production reporting. Month-End Close & Reporting Support: • Support month-end close activities related to inventory, WIP, COGS, standard costs, and manufacturing, • variances., • Coordinate with external accounting/bookkeeping resources to ensure accurate recording of inventory,, • manufacturing, and operational transactions., • Prepare reconciliations and schedules related to inventory, WIP, finished goods, and production costs., • Assist with cost accounting journal entries and supporting documentation., • Help reconcile ERP operational data to accounting records and financial statements., • Prepare recurring reports on production costs, variances, inventory trends, and margin drivers., • Support ad hoc analysis for leadership related to cost structure, pricing, margins, and operational, • efficiency. Process Improvement & Controls: • Help strengthen internal controls around inventory movement, receiving, production completion, WIP, and, • finished goods., • Support the creation of practical processes and documentation for manufacturing finance workflows., • Partner with operations to reduce manual workarounds, spreadsheet dependency, and data, • inconsistencies., • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial manufacturing, • environment. Relevant Technical Knowledge: • Standard cost systems, • BOMs and routings, • Inventory valuation, • WIP accounting, Finished goods costing, • Manufacturing variances, Labor and overhead absorption, • COGS analysis, • Month-end close support Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field, • preferred., • 3–6+ years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, plant accounting, inventory, • accounting, or operational finance., • Strong understanding of standard costing and cost accounting methodologies., • Experience with manufacturing environments, preferably in a complex, configurable, or build-to-order, • product environment., • Experience working in ERP systems in a manufacturing environment., • Strong Excel and analytical skills., • Ability to investigate operational details and connect them to financial outcomes., • Comfortable working directly with production, purchasing, inventory, and operations teams., • Operationally minded and solution-oriented, • Strong communication skills, especially the ability to explain cost accounting concepts to non-finance, • teammates., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growing, and evolving business. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in automotive, RV, aerospace, custom manufacturing, or complex assembly environments., • Experience with standard cost rollups, cost updates, and variance analysis., • Experience supporting ERP implementation, cleanup, or process improvement initiatives., • Familiarity with Odoo or similar ERP systems preferred., • Experience in an entrepreneurial or high-growth manufacturing company., • CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification is a plus but not required.
